Quite possibly the most demanding request ever posted (MGS related)

3rdstar:

In a few collection photos on the forum, I have seen some movie collections with art work that spreads across the spines of the entire series, and they have been noted as custom covers. I'm not the least bit skilled in doing any kind of graphical editing, otherwise I would do this myself...but I want to do this for my collection of Metal Gear Solid games. I realize I'm leaving a few games out (PSP titles and the upcoming MGS4, also the game boy color game, which was amazing), but this is for the titles I have on PS1, PS2, and Gamecube. It will also cover a number of repeated titles, just because I own (or will own soon in the case of one game) all of the different versions.

The spine art:

Slightly trimmed down, not including the watermark.

And the games included:

Metal Gear 1/2
Metal Gear Solid (PS1 DVD Box)
Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes
Metal Gear Solid VR Missions
Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 2 Substance
Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence
Metal Gear Solid 3 Bonus DVD

I know that there exists a lot of custom cases for most of the titles already, and those are actually the versions I would like.

For example, MGS:

The second would have the regular art, except for the spine. Same goes for Substance, but I'd prefer the art from the MGS essential box that just recently released.

MGS3

MGS3:Subsistence

MGS:Twin Snakes

I'm not sure about the DVD art, as there file on the site already, but I can possibly scan it myself and upload it. I would need to hit the guides to figure out how to do it really well, but if it is needed (as I expect), I will take care of it. Also, I am completely unsure of how to handle Metal Gear 1 and 2, as they are part of the Subsistence set.

Some other minor details I figure I would need to include are that I would still want the title logos on the spines, as well as system logos and such important markers. I know that mixing in the Gamecube title may cause some...minor weirdness to it, but I figure that box will look okay at the top of the spine as it is at the bottom.

I look forward to seeing if anyone is up to this, or just how many people are going to call me insane as a result of this request. However, I'd like to see that I'm not the only person who would like to see how this would turn out because it's an interesting concept (to me, anyways) and I would hope that it may carry on to some other series later on.

Doom:

First off, I modified your post to link to the picture instead of having it in your post. I don't like reading posts that stretch the page.

I think I'm up to this with some elaboration. Bold is my comments and questions. If there are no questions, I'm writing my understanding of the cover art you want. Spine goes without saying.

3rdstar:

Well, everything is DVD box. The Metal Gear games from MSX are on my Subsistence disc 2, so it will be styled as a PS2 case in my image of this collection of covers. The bonus DVD is speak of from Subsistence is from the limited edition of the game that came in a red box ( http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Solid-Subsistence-Limited-Playstation/dp/B000IQXJ9U/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1210437272&sr=8-3 if you are wondering...I have expensive game yes) and is just a collection of the in game videos formed to make a movie of sorts.

I can scan the cover for that bonus dvd if needed, but I need to figure  out of my scanner will work or not.
I think I covered everything here...but if ya still have questions, I'm keeping an eye on this thread. I'm glad to see that someone is willing to do this. I'm sorry that I'm not very active here in the way of uploading covers and such, but this site is incredible. My GBA collection looks damn good because of it, and now I will have a nice little show-offy Metal Gear collection.

Thanks in advance.

Doom:

Okay, thanks for clarifying.
Covers I may have problems with:
Metal Gear Solid VR Missions
Metal Gear Solid 3 Bonus DVD

Do you want me to use this custom cover for MGS VR Missions? If not, or if you want it in the vertical style seen with MGS1, I'd appreciate it if you could scan MGS VR Missions at 600dpi, it would make it much easier. There is a scanning guide in my signature. Also scanning whatever cover came with MGS3 Bonus DVD at 300dpi would make your request easier as well.

I'm planning on using these covers for MG1/MG2. IIRC NES MG2 is different than the one on MSX (and Substance disc 2), but the title is the same as far as I know.
MG1
Which spine logo do you want for MG2?
Metal Gear: Snake's Revenge
Snake's Revenge

the MSX version of metal gear 2 is a completely different game than snake's revenge.
Actually snakes revenge isn't even made by Hideo Kojima.

it would need different artwork, which could be troublesome  :-\
