Hello.
Here are some scans I'd like to share with the community. Feedback and questions are welcome.
Thumbnails link to 300dpi versions of each cover. In consideration of quality vs size trade-offs, images are saved as 64% (an homage to N64) JPEGs.
More scans will come as time goes on. Please enjoy.
#31. ClayFighter - Sega GenesisThis is the first scan shared that was done with a new set of techniques I've been developing since last I posted in 2015. Colors and definition are as close as possible to the original.
#30. Final Fight - Super Nintendo Entertainment SystemThe main artwork has a lot of orange going on. The dude on the right looks like a jacked Magnum PI, no?
#29. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade - Nintendo Entertainment SystemThere was an impossible amount of film grain and fuzziness due to the cover being taken from a movie frame. I did the best I could!
#28. Taz-Mania - Sega GameGearWas a bit rough around the edges.
#27. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Sega GameGearDue to the box being printed with so much purple, it gave the rest of the image a slightly purple tone. This has been corrected.
#26. Pac-Man [Unlicensed] - Nintendo Entertainment SystemWho knew Pac-Man wore a hat and had deep blue eyes? Inky's facial expression is ludicrous. Relatively solid scan over all.
#25. Lemmings - Super Nintendo Entertainment SystemThere was a significant amount of sticker residue on this cover. "It's been taken care of."
#24. Shadowrun - Super Nintendo Entertainment SystemThis was a particularly trying cover. There were a significant number of scratches. Remedied for your enjoyment.
#23. Final Fantasy II - Super Nintendo Entertainment SystemEven though this is mostly one solid color, it was very messy. Came out great in the end though.
#22. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - Super Nintendo Entertainment SystemI declare #9F8A5B to be "Zelda Gold" henceforth.
#21. Battletoads - Nintendo Entertainment SystemThe color saturation is a bit higher than one might expect. It is a faithful representation of the intensity of the box's colors.
#20. Ecco: The Tides of Time - Sega GenesisI really like Boris Vallejo's style. The contours and color choices are a treat.
#19. Halo 2 - Microsoft XboxThis one came out surprisingly well. Master Chief just screams heroism.
#18. Ogre Battle - Sony Playstation
#17. Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition - Sega GenesisEverything came out rather well on this one. You'll notice the splotches on the 'S' on the main logo...
I went back and forth on keeping them. Considering they're on the spine and back logos as well, I chose to keep them.
#16. Pitfall! - Atari VCSLots of solid colors on this cover.
#15. Sesame Street: Big Bird's Speak & Spell - Nintendo Entertainment SystemMy box was really beat up, but you'd never know.
"Can you tell me how to get..."
#14. ToeJam & Earl - Sega GenesisSolid outcome. Groovy.
#13. Twisted Metal - Sony PlaystationClowns. Straight forward cover. Longbox games are so pretty!
#12. Final Fantasy X - Sony Playstation 2I really like the color choices used on this cover. It's also a great game.
#11. Shining Force - Sega GenesisA decent scan. The main cover art is slightly desaturated and has a blue-ish hue. I chose to maintain these attributes.
#10. Enter the Matrix - Microsoft XboxThis was a holographic cover -- pretty difficult to replicate. Printed colors came out reasonably well though. Enjoy.
#9. Gotcha! - Commodore 64/128This one was a request. The box was essentially pristine.
#8. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - Sega GenesisIt was a pleasure doing this one. Colors are great. You'll notice that the grey checkerboard in the background fades closer to the middle. It is the only color which does it and it is a print defect.
#7. Ecco the Dolphin - Sega GenesisThis image is dark, but that's how it is on the actual cover. Please enjoy.
#6. Mortal Kombat - Sega GenesisRelatively straight forward. Nothing too out of the ordinary.
#5. Streets of Rage 2 - Sega GenesisThis one had a million tiny problems. The printer must have been on the fritz and there were SO MANY imperfections. The majority were taken care of.
#4. Final Fantasy VII - Sony PlaystationThis one took a few tries and will likely never be perfect thanks to the printer they used. The main image of Cloud is also blurry to begin with.
#3. X-Men - Sega GenesisReasonably straight forward. The background red "explode" made it difficult to discern the blemishes.
#2. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Sony Playstation 2This had to be my favorite game in the series. Quite an easy edit considering the solid colors.
#1. Epic Mickey - Nintendo WiiCheers, Warren.
