Hyperkin is about to make a ton of money off of the Retron 5 by mooching off of Nintendo's past success. Nintendo should counter this quickly and create a first party peripheral for the Wii U that plays ALL NES, SNES, and N64 games, the ACTUAL cartridges not emulators. Update NES to 16 bit, polish the SNES and N64 and clean up the edges. Give it a much crisper look while maintaining that retro feel. Innovation is a great thing but they don't seem to know when enough is enough. NOSTALGIA, at the moment, is their strength not gimmicky controllers. It seems like they're trying to squeeze every last drop of juice out of a dried up orange with all these systems that are always a step or two behind. Nintendo in the past has said that gamers want a true gaming experience and that's true but gamers are going to XBox and PlayStation to get it. You'd think that would have been obvious what Sony took their toys and left Nintendo high and dry when they created the original PlayStation and took hardcore gamers with them. Sometimes bucking the trend to be different will get you third place.

Not gonna happen as Nintendo makes way more mulah by polishing the games and selling them on WiiU or 3DS shop channel.

I know the bottom line is the bottom line but at this point maybe they should be more open to the rambling, incoherent thoughts of an old fanboy like myself.

They forgot about you long time ago.  They can't even make a normal CONTROLLER any more.

My personal wish is for Nintendo to re-release classic titles and consoles in a similar fashion to how Disney handles their movie releases. Not exactly like it though, i'll explain.

Re-release 5th, 10th, 20th etc., Anniversary Versions of games in their original format (on actual NES, SNES etc. carts). Just for pure collection sake i would likely fork over the cash for each version. Who wouldn't fork over say $30 for a brand new Zelda cart and box made by Nintendo? Hell they could even include a small art-book and/or video that highlights what this game meant to gaming and what the series is up to nowadays.

In order to make this profitable for Nintendo and keep it from getting flooded they only release the game for 1 month (maybe more but no more than 3 months). After that you have to wait until the next anniversary edition (minimum five years later). They could have a staggered release too. Say Nintendo re-releases 12 titles in one year. Once per month of the anniversary year. To give people incentive to buy the whole collection include a $10 off coupon if you buy next month's re-released game.

At the beginning of that anniversary year they would re-release an anniversary edition console. The anniversary console would look far different each anniversary and would "keep up the times." Meaning video/audio output changes, wireless controllers (bluetooth or whatever comes next). Include one Golden or Platinum cart w/ each system that is ONLY sold with the system (they would choose the game based on trends of popularity, ex: Zelda would be a smart move at this time).

EVERYTHING would be a timed release so get it while its hot!

My two cents  ;)

It would be great if they could at least sell legacy controllers. I really don't like the feeling of imitations, and one day all N64 thumbstick will be loose!

YEP...!
Maybe run a poll on their website to see what fans want re-made, updated, upgraded, etc. Foe example, Fable anniversary is the same game as the original just with a new coat of paint. It obviously was cheap enough to do to warrant releasing it so how cheap could it be to re-make 8 bit games into 16 bit or polish up 64 games to HD quality? All I'm saying is take what made them so beloved in the eyes of old gamers and splash some "pretty" on it so it can be enjoyed by old and young alike.

My idea for the console would be basically a beefed up version of the 64. Same general shape and design just with more power under the hood. It would have a USB cable that plugs into the main console for ultimate connectivity, has the ability to download games directly to it OR play hard copies of NES, SNES and N64. Controller would be main console controller or there would be a connector to be able to use original ones. Why not throw in a disc reader for GCN for good measure? I like your idea of special premium copies also. How sweet would it be to see those black boxes on the shelves again?!

Nintendo should do a lot of things that they don't do.

I think that they hate money.

But they have so much of it...Maybe go buy Xbox and build on that tech and slap a big red oval on it.

Quoting for genius. This would have all collectors collectively shitting themselves and really give the classic gaming community a boost, which it sorely needs IMO.

That makes sense since you could use the Wii U controller as the bottom screen and the TV as the top screen.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Sometimes it seems like people forget that Nintendo is trying to sell games to kids. Kids don't know what a gameboy is anymore, and a lot of them won't play N64 games because they look bad. I'm sure a ton of retro nerds like us would buy new legacy hardware, but that market is so small compared to the younger audience.

I truly don't get all the "Nintendo is killing themselves" that people give out.  Wii was the top selling console of its generation.  Their games are still just flat-out fun.  Yeah, so-called "Hardcore Gamers" have went to PS3 and 360... but in my mind, FPS and sports titles does not define "Hardcore gaming"

Ah well, to each their own I suppose.
