Hyperkin is about to make a ton of money off of the Retron 5 by mooching off of Nintendo's past success. Nintendo should counter this quickly and create a first party peripheral for the Wii U that plays ALL NES, SNES, and N64 games, the ACTUAL cartridges not emulators. Update NES to 16 bit, polish the SNES and N64 and clean up the edges. Give it a much crisper look while maintaining that retro feel. Innovation is a great thing but they don't seem to know when enough is enough. NOSTALGIA, at the moment, is their strength not gimmicky controllers. It seems like they're trying to squeeze every last drop of juice out of a dried up orange with all these systems that are always a step or two behind. Nintendo in the past has said that gamers want a true gaming experience and that's true but gamers are going to XBox and PlayStation to get it. You'd think that would have been obvious what Sony took their toys and left Nintendo high and dry when they created the original PlayStation and took hardcore gamers with them. Sometimes bucking the trend to be different will get you third place. |
