If you reeeeally get into the CV, there's a guy named Yurkie over on Atariage who does a ton of mods for them including replacing the video ram so that it can all run off of a single voltage like god intended. Also has the side effect of negating the need to reinforce your outlet so you can strap that damn brick to it (you know what I'm talking about) Alternatively, if you kindareally get into it, look for a Canadian power supply. The canucks were much smarter than us idiot americans and their power supplies are like a laptop supply, where the huge-ass brick is in the MIDDLE of the cord. It'll be a little pricey, but a: is cheaper than the power mod and b: has good resale value if you ever decide you want to do the power mod. --- End quote --- I doubt it, I'm against most console mods. I can never understand how people can say they use consoles to recreate how it was, using the old controllers ect, then turn around and mod a console for RGB. 90% of the people who do that are the ones who blindly say "emulation sucks" without really trying it, and state how there's issues in it. Meanwhile I have to remember which 7800 I have to use if I ever want to play dark chambers on it, due to the hardware not being compatible. --- End quote --- I understand that outlook as well. For me, it's a couple things -- the controllers are one of the biggest reasons, yes. Also the feel of being able to actually load the cartridge up, as well as having the system and games to display. But I AM a fan of trying to get the best video I can out of the systems (hell, one of my Colecos was so fuzzy as to be basically unplayable via RF - completely grayscale and snow, you could juuuust make out characters if you squinted hard - and a composite video mod cleared it right up to be perfect), not only for the quality upgrade but for eliminating proprietary cords (and thus, switchboxes). Then again, I also enjoy emulation in its place -- I have an Ouya upstairs in my bedroom if I want to play something because I can't sleep, I have a MAME box in a standup arcade machine, etc. But like I say, I also understand the people who absolutely only want the 100% original experience of their childhood, right down to the limitations that can theoretically be bypassed. Different strokes I suppose. --- End quote --- This. I have my own personal rules when it comes to mods and my own personal rules when it comes to emulation. I've been over them before, so I won't get into that again. But at the end of the day, each person needs to do what works for them. |

Had a recapped replacement for this come through the door this morning. I finally have sound on my GG again so very happy with that.... Then I picked these up in town.... Need more UGC's now though! |

Been a slow month for pick up for me but found some good stuff at a large annual garage sale: NES Bundle $10 NES console with all hookups and 2 controllers and 12 games. Bolder Dash and Mighty Bomb Jack with manual are ones I needed. Some good games to resell in there like the Mario games, DK classics, Ninja Turtles, etc. SNES Bundle $15 SNES console with all hookups 2 controllers, 4 games, and a complete Super Scope with Sensor. The console and games will be flipped but I'm stoked to finally have a Super Scope Sam and Max Wii $3 Dino Crisis $2 FFX-2 Ltd Edition Guide $5 Gameboy with Link Cable, AC Adaptor, and Magnifier / Light thing $1 System Selector Switchbox $2 Also got Captain Planet for the NES at the local shop for $5 And finally .... got these today |
