how do I open a Ds cartridge

Hey guys, does any of you know how to open a DS game cartridge. I was going to clean some of my niece games, open the first one clean it and when I try to close it it won't close as it should,  it opens easily.  tried with a second one and when I was half way to open it I stop because knew the same will happen to this one, try to close it and the same, the half part that I open won't close as it should.

Search on YouTube and the video I see the guy is doing the same as I did but the video ends only in the part when he finish open it and don't show if it close wright

Am I doing something wrong?

The short answer is that you don't. They weren't meant to be opened up. Ever

Then how do I clean them?

Just keep the contacts clean. Luckily they're pretty well exposed and it's not too tough to get to em.

You can actually open them. You just can close em lol. That's why they sell replacement shells for really cheap. You'd have to reprint the sticker or transfer it. This method might bring dead carts back to life also. Just youtube it you'll find what you're looking for and ebay or your fav china site for the ds cart shells. They come in many colors. As far as cleaning grab a clean rag with a little bit of alcohol and rub the contacts north and south. Works for me.

Yep i notice the part that they don't close again  lol.

Thanks for the help i will try cleaning them as you sugeste because i don't want/like to reprint the label. as always preffer original ones

i will use a little of Coqui glue (that's how Super glue is call here) to fix the one i broke

think i will use a toothpick with a clean rag and alcohol to clean them.

I would be surprised if a ds game got that dirty to worry about if they are kept in some sort of case.

some of the games weren't new when they were bought for my niece, some won't even play right now. i try for 5 minutes trying to play the one that i broke and didn't work, after i open it, clein it and try to close it, then it play in the first try. the rare part is that she always keeps them in those little Ds box.

Don't really know how they got so dirty that they don't want to play

Can you take some pics of the contacts?  I've never seen a seriously dirty DS cart. Also, Q-Tips and old toothbrushes are great for cleaning stuff like this

This is a photo of the one that I had opened before I ask here how to open and clean a ds cartridge,  maybe it doesn't look with a lot of dirt but that made the game not to play. Don't have photos of the other games because when you ask I already had clean them all .

yes, i've had games like that not work, with a bit of a rub they ran fine...

Yep, I clean them all (without opening them lol) and now they start in the first try, this was the dirtiest one of all.

Oh, and no, super Mario bros wasn't the game I open (because is in the photo on the table), the one i open was yoshi island, but I glue it again with super glue
