So I wanted an AGS-101 screen for my regular gameboy advance. Wiggy was sold out of them at the time and they were sold out for a while (atleast a couple weeks when I was actively seeking) so I turned to eBay and bought one from someone in China.. The price was 45 shipped with 2 shells and the screen with pin adapter. Well it works, but it definitely is not nearly as bright as it should be and I am pretty pissed off about it. Took over a month to get here, and now this.

Here is a side by side pic with my AGS-001 SP with the Modded Advance with the supposed AGS-101 screen.. Did I get bamboozled? Picture was taken on my Note 3 in the dark with the SP on the left.

1. Is your GBA a 32 or 40 pin model?

2. It won't ever be as bright. Just the nature of the mod.

It's 32 pin. I soldered a wire on the ribbon and it made it brighter, so that makes it better for me. but the screen still looks weird.

Might be a silly question, but why not buy a model 101 with that $45 instead of modding an older one?

The original GBA is just so much more comfortable (for me, anyway.)  Especially for anything that uses the shoulder buttons a lot.  I really started enjoying my GBA games much more once I got my Wiggy modified one.

There is even more comfortable option if you play at home:

Gamecube +  Game Boy Player + SNES pad + controller adapter.

Have you adjusted the potentiometer at all?

Yeah but for that you have GBA as a back up.
And I was talking about the most confortable set-up (besides emulating).

And I leave my house once a year for a wash in a car wash (so they don't have to take my bed off the truck). ;D

I haven't messed with that yet, I wasn't sure if that would fix it. I should turn the dial CCW right? and whats the best way to turn it with just a regular flat head screwdriver?

I got my GC with the GBA Adapter and a Wavebird, but i dislike the wavebird its not real good for GBA games. I need snes pad!

Arseen do you have a good Gamecube to SNES Adapter? I saw one in canada thats roughly 30 dollars, and a crappy retro 2 in 1 that i hear is terrible. I could get the GBA Cable and use the GBA as the controller but i'd much rather use a SNES controller.

That would work, but not sure of the quality. The one Retro Zone (retrousb.com) used to look like this:

http://www.retrousb.com/oscthumb.php?src=qZrewuGW5JDtpuHG7KPW1eyg4dDspaLA55bVj-Sh2A..&w=240&h=165&f=jpg&q=95&hash=67ec7a2fc3a360616b6426c3238d96a1

but with a GameCube controller end instead of USB. It's perfect! Not sure why they stopped making them. You could use their NES version combined with NES and SNES extention cables spliced together, since NES and SNES share the same controller pinouts.

What about this one?  Connects to gamecube port on wii, so should work right?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NINTENDO-SNES-or-NES-to-Wii-Controller-Adapter-Super-Nintendo-Retro-Port-NEW-/171313417681?pt=US_Video_Game_Cables_Adapters&hash=item27e3134dd1

Actually I have that too, just haven't tried it yet.

I'll check it tomorrow and tell if it works.

Yeah that's the one.

Maybe they would make those if asked.
