I assume he means something like this:

http://www.stoneagegamer.com/3do-usb-adapter-panasonic-fz-10.html

Which appears to be a mod.
Yes that's exactly what I was referring to.  My mistake for saying "Adapter" instead of "Mod", I occasionally am unclear when I'm tired, sorry :)

I'm an odd bird -- I keep a fairly large game collection, yet I also like the ability to play imports, hacks, etc so I'm always looking for high quality flash carts, ODE replacements, etc.  So things like that, the GDROM replacement for Dreamcast, etc, I will always jump on.

Megatron -- on the Goldstar it seems to be a relatively easy plug and play, though you do need to mod the front a little to figure out how to mount the hookup.  On the FZ-10, it's soldering and I let Stone Age handle it for me, my soldering knowledge is basically "Don't pick it up by the hot end"

Thank you for everything, guys!  I appreciate it!

I did some price research and ended up buying one.  An FZ-10.

I preferred the FZ-1 (as so many of you mentioned) but I found the FZ-10 on craigslist, complete, with 2 games and apparently in great working condition with minimal cosmetic wear.  All for $75 (I talked him down a little).  So I couldn't pass that up. I pick it up tomorrow.  So thanks again for all the help with this!

Now I can go slightly off topic.  Does anyone have the game blade runner for 3do?  If so, does this game justify buying the console for?  It's my favorite movie, so I always wanted to play it.

The best deal is always the way to go.  I've been looking for a 3DO for a while now, and I haven't found a working model with the cables and at least one controller for under $100.  I would prefer the FZ-1, but if I found the deal you did, I would take whichever model it was.

There's Blade Force, but I've never heard of blade runner on it.   There's a point and click Blade Runner on PC, but not 3DO

I think you guys are right, I can't find anything about it either - I was bidding on one on ebay about 5 years ago that said it came with bladerunner, and I'm sure it had a pic of the box.    Must have been a vcd.

Its possible you saw Blade runner in a 3D0 lot, but it would have been a VCD of the movie, as the 3D0 had a VCD player attachments and I remember this and total recall being the two movies available in VCD format at my babbages back in the day.

In case you were still looking for a 3DO I would say to go for an FZ-1.

I have an FZ-10 E and it wont play Way of the Warrior (which I was very disappointed about) and also Quarantine, which I have heard is a very good game.

Another strange thing I found with it is that you cant have in-race music on Road Rash. Comes up with some error about not enough system memory or something. Bit pointless as the main selling point of that game was the rock music! Apparently all is fine on the FZ-1 but not sure about the Goldstars or Sanyos or any of the other models (the Robo thing!).

I would definitely recommend the 3DO though. Many good random games like Killing Floor and Monster Manor, Fifa is fun to play, I first discovered Gex on mine, and also the Goldstar controller, if you can find one, is so nice to use.

And lets not forget the best home port of Super Street Fighter 2 either!  :) (Can you tell I love my 3DO?)

So, in the original post he asked for game suggestions also and since he bought an FZ-10 (and I bought a Goldstar recently) I was wondering what games are good for the 3DO. I remember playing Gex and Super Street Fighter 2 at a friends house when I was a kid but that is it.

There's actually a lot of very good games on it. Return fire is a classic, Total Eclipse showed it was a capable machine, Killing Time and monster manor are very slick FPS games. It has very good versions of Novastorm and Microcosm (theres a few rail shooters). It has the best version of The Need For Speed (not to mention that it was the original too) but conversely the worst port of Doom ever, even though the music is awesome. Theres a few niche racing games like Crash n Burn and Megarace, which don't look great but play very nicely. Way of the Warrior is a parody of Mortal Kombat, and I actually prefer it in a way but it doesn't work on my FZ-10. One of my favourite games on it is actually one that gets slated a lot and that is Ballz 3d. I played it to death on my Megadrive years ago and was very happy to find a much improved version on the 3DO. Have a look on youtube at 3dokid's videos as he runs through all the best games in a series of videos.

Another great thing about the 3DO is its region free, so games can be bought from any region wherever they're cheapest. Games for it are cheap in general though. I bought a bundle of about 20 games for next to nothing on ebay when I first got my console.

Hope that helps a bit.

I've never owned a 3DO even though I've been looking for a while now, but I remember having a friend with one and he had the game PO'ed.  Even though the PS1 version is a little better, I would still list it as a good 3DO game.

Really?  Now I have to test those 2.. of course my FZ-10 is modded so it's not exactly a perfect example to try with, but I have never heard of it not playing certain games before.

It has to be an FX-10 E from my understanding.  And it's modded for what?  SD card\usb?
