Work In progress template
(it is not currently ready to be shared, still adjusting things)

The Nintendo logo on the spine is a placeholder. It would be replaced with whatever developer/publisher made that game

thoughts?

I converted 4 more cover art just to get an idea of how difficult it will be. I think if we can put together a Photoshop template with layers it won't take a lot of time if we have a few people working on it. Like I said I will make a bounty thread for this.

VERY nice! I've always thought that more title logo on a spine adds color and and splash. Placing publisher logo horizontally across the bottom and the red and white Nintendo along the top, or vice versa, would add even more uniformity. But since I have no idea where to even begin making covers I will bow to your superior ways  ;D

I really like how those vertical bitbox covers are coming along. I know they're not 'original', but I think it just fits better, especially when nearly all other game media since then is oriented like that too.

F-Zero

Gradius 3

King Of Dragons

Killer Instinct

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Turtles In Time

Here is what the front of the UGC cover looks like next  the BitBox cover.
Since it is a wider canvas the black area of the template had to be extended BUT the art doesn't need to be distorted this way and can maintain the correct aspect ratios. In all honesty, with the covers i've converted so far this may take some time. Of coarse we could go with stretching the artwork but it won't look as nice and/or will be further from a retail look.

I have converted a lot of shenske's vertical template for the SNES / SFC BitBox. Maybe there is a better way, but this is how I can take vertical and horizontal UGC art and make work with the BitBox template.

For the back I just use the original UGC vertical (if available). I assume the time it would take to convert to switch all these (text and screens) would be too significant to make it worth while. At least in attempt to get them done as quickly as possible. This does leave a bit of black space on the right and left, but honestly I don't think it looks too bad, especially once the art is in the case. But that's just my opinion.

This is just an idea. If we could get a handful of people working on these I think we could convert them relatively quick. Like I said I will be putting up a bounty thread were we will attempt to organize this and I will also offer compensation via store credit for those who want to participate.

STEP 1:
This is the current template I have done so far.

STEP 2:
Cut out logo from either vertical or horizontal for spine.

STEP 2a:
Paste logo in center of spine area. A resize maybe required to fit in usable spine area.

STEP 3:
Cut out back of vertical back.

STEP 3a:
Paste vertical back to center of BitBox back.

STEP 4:
Cut out front art from horizontal, if available. May nee dot use up-scaled vertical front art if horizontal is not available.

STEP 4a:
Rotate and paste into correct layer of template. Some resize may be required. Also in the case of art with stuff that pops out will obviously require additional editing.

STEP 5:
Enabled company logos and ESRB where necessary.

Seems simple enough. Not that I think it looked bad or anything, but I appreciate that we can convert the existing artwork without needing the extra bar that was used for NES.

StoneAgeGamer, if it's not too much trouble would you mind printing out this test cover for my SNES Fusion template and post some pics of how it looks, as well as how it looks next to your vertical covers? I especially want to know how the spine area fares so I can make adjustments if needed.

Also I may be able to help convert verticals, as I have a lot of free time currently and I think I could get through them quickly with that template you're making.

If I went the BitBox route for my SNES games, I'd probably use your covers TF. Looks really good! Keep up the good work!

Thanks! I'll be converting all of my previous UGC SNES covers plus several more new ones. I'll also make the template available for anyone who wants to make some.

Having had my previous covers on my shelf for a while, I decided to continue the colored spine backgrounds like NES to make them more visually interesting on a shelf.
