Will you be improving the print quality on the SNES cases ? I've noticed that a hand full of the NES BitBox cases where Stonage Gamer provided the prints have already shown signs of fading... This is in a smoke free house with absolutely zero chance of U/V light perpetrating the room. All lighting is LED based.

Well here's the thing, there is no way we will meet the print quality of a $20K print press. We lose money on the prints as they are priced right now. However, in regards to your fading, I have no idea why it would fade that quickly they are printed on a office quality laser printers. This is the first we have heard of such an issue. We may eventually buy a better printer, but most likely any printer we can afford is not going to match a photo inkjet printer or a high end press in print quality. I mean if someone knows of a laser printer that can do that for $5K or less please point me to it.

We did have an issue for a span of about 4 or 5 months where we tried to use 3rd party toner for the printer in an attempt to save money. We eventually stopped using 3rd party because the print quality was just not very consistent. We also had a lot of toner leaking issues with them. We have switched back to OEM toner. Maybe this toner could also fade easily? I have no idea.

I do apologize for any issues you have had regarding the prints and if you are unsatisfied you can always e-mail us about the issue.

Just out of curiosity, how long ago were they printed approximately? I printed some covers on a laser printer a few weeks ago so I'd like to have a point of reference in case I see any fading myself.

According to my shipping receipt from Stoneage Gamer they were ready to ship on 8/30/2013 so I assume they were printed with in a day or two before then. I appreciate that they used cardstock, but its the bleedable type which I think has contributed to the perception of fading over time... I like the cases despite the excessive size, but I may opt to print covers myself on my next order if there's no indication of change or improvement from their side... Though printing and cutting 100 covers at a time sure does suck!  :-[

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on mine then.

By the way, are the files for the custom BitBox covers even available for us to print ourselves? Maybe I'm just blind but I haven't seen any on this site.

I'm going to add them in one swoop once I finish the next 100 for Stoneage Gamer. (Should be closer to the last set, almost there :) ). Adding 600 to 800 covers will be quite the task (it takes about 90 sec to add each cover after quality is checked).

Do keep in mind though that not all will be added to the site. Quite a few of the current covers we have on the site are below current standards. I still had to use these for the BitBox conversions but if the quality doesn't pass then I'll be uploading them to mediafire or box.net.

Man do I appreciate the work you are doing, not an easy task by any means!

I have just put in a pretty big order for NES cover arts and waiting to pick my covers. The only one missing in updated BitBox form that I would need to complete my set is Super C.

If you have time it would be pretty damn awesome if you could upload just that one for selection. But don't stress about it, only if it's no hassle.

Keep at it, your work speaks for itself.

Any chance you're working on Shatter Hand or Vice Project Doom there, Shenske?

I think those are the only two I'm waiting on.

I'm pretty sure at this point i have converted at least one cover for every game we have available :)

I don't want to derail this topic too much so i'll just drop a link to the folder (only a few covers are in there at the moment)

Below are pictures of the prototype. Its a little rough around the edges. The corners in the picture are also square, those will be rounded off for the final.

It fits carts like a glove.

Those look great! I like that crisscross design too, clever way to get both styles of carts to fit.

Great stuff, also a big fan of the criss-cross design.

Will Shenske's amazing BitBox artwork be available for the SNES collection as well? Also hopefully for GB/GBC/GBA?
