Dreamcast GDROM replacement - uses flash cards with ISO's.  No soldering - just unplug GDROM connector, and plug this in.  SHame it doesn't support a hdd instead of flash card, as i'd have built an arcade machine around it. lol

Me too, and happy I did, looks like preorders closed (at least temporarily) in less than a day.

I have to say I'm not thrilled with the idea of taking the entire top of my DC off to change it out, but I found an SD extender on dx.com that looks like it'll fit the bill nicely (I for one like the ribbon cable) and with a little soldering and drilling those buttons he mentioned... could be a perfect combination right where the disc was supposed to sit.

It's going to look gorgeous next to my USB-loading 3DO :D

This looks like a pretty sweet project. In essence all you would have to do is swap out sd cards or you could try and find a sd card big enough to house your library of dc games. Definitely bookmarking this website to see when orders will be taken again.

The price surprised me a tad especially considering that it will probably be more then what was mentioned, and also the fact that it'll only work on V1 models is a little dissappointing.  I would've loved to use that on my v2 that doesn't read burned discs.

But other then that, I think this thing is amazing and I would still love to own one

See given the price of the USB mod for 3DO and some of the higher-end flashcarts out there, that price actually came in a little lower than I expected personally, but to each their own.

Lol, when you put it like that then yeah, this piece is pretty cheap.  But after the exchange rate from euro's to usd and shipping/other fees I hope the price isn't high up there.  Like I said, I'd really like to have this especially considering that it's a ton better then the seriel sd card readers that are already out there.

Oooh, I might have to pick one of these up next time they become available! My GD drive is starting to become increasingly uncooperative.

Hehe it's alll about perspective :)  But yeah I figure it's gonna be $150ish max after exchange rate and shipping... at least it's EUR not GBP.  I was expecting $200+ before shipping from his "If I do make it, it's gonna be 'spensive" post on livejournal.

I mean yeah, I'd love for it to be less, but I'm happy to get it at the price it's at.

Jealous. No real need for it, but I still love collecting oddball hardware bits like this ;)

I'm sure you could come up with an idea or two. ;)

Course I've always wanted a slot-loading GD-rom myself.

I wish there was a way to use with with the original GD ROM drive as well.  However, I still want it.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."
