Is an modification required to the UGC in order to house Atari 2600 carts?

Thanks!

If you don't mind that the games are loose in the UGC, modification isn't needed.  However, if you want the games snug, slight modification will be needed.
Maybe, just once, someone will call me "sir" without adding, "you're making a scene."

Snug sounds good. What part/ section needs cutting?

I'll post a picture tonight.  I dont' have any UGCs within reach at the moment.

Also, it's worth mentioning that while most Atari 2600 games are the same size, some are different.  Cosmic Arc and Kool-Aid Man are two examples that come to mind.  They are a little bigger and would require different modification.  I'll post pictures of the games I own which are sized differently.  I only mention this since I assume you are thinking down the road for Atari 2600 cases.  It might add a slight challenge.

Here is a picture of a normal 2600 game in a UGC.  No modification is needed here, but the game will slide around on the inside of teh case.

This picture shows what would need to be trimmed for the game to fit snug.  I haven't modified any of my UGCs for 2600 games yet, but the modification would be very minor.

Also, here is a picture of some 2600 games which are slightly larger than a normal game.  These would need slightly more modification.
