It's odd that people would have a problem letting go of 'the Castlevania formula' given that the series has pretty consistently been fudging with 'the formula'.

From my perspective at least, Castlevania doesn't have a single formula. The classic games, N64 Castlevanias, metroidvanias, Lords of Shadow, they are all different 'eras'. Judgement fits in there somewhere too :P

@Thom: Lords of Shadow 2 is by no means a step down in quality or gameplay in my opinion. The graphics and sound was apparently so good that it nearly burned out my HDMI cable when I played it. Then again it could be that my PS3 is a bit dirty inside and I don't have the tools to unscrew it and clean it, but it does well enough standing vertically.

Have any of you Castlevania fans seen the price of the Castlevania: Dracula X cartridge now, compared to what KalessianDB got it for? The prices it's going for damn near kick a Castlevania fan in the nuts! Because I'm usually only content with spending $50-$60 on a game at most, but for this I'll have to spend way more! If you don't know the prices it's going for now, then here's a link to an extensive eBay search of the game for SNES.

You're right, completed auctions are going for insane prices. I'm glad I got Dracula X when it was only $80.

I got a little lucky back in the day before SNES got huge.  Wish I had more play money back then, but I didn't.  Probably my best score was back when an EB Games was clearancing out their NES/SNES games.  All the guys there knew me and gave me the unadvertised special -- $1.99 per NES game, $4.99 per SNES game.  There was nothing STUPIDLY expensive, but recently I did find a copy of Demon's Crest that I bought from them.  It had an $11.99 sticker on it still, but I know what I actually paid was $4.99 cuuuz that's what they did for me :D  Very few other games I bought from them still have stickers, so I'm not sure which ones they were honestly, but that one made me happy.

God I wish I had had more money to drop on games back then.

I was wondering the same.  Noticed it in another topic he started too.  I know some people want to reduce their footprints sometimes, but (especially for this thread) when there's other people having a reasonable discussion where there's some good info in it, I can't really see deleting topics to be in the best interest of a forum overall.
