What are your favourite PS2 games?

Hey all,

I found my childhood PS2 today and decided I would love to start playing on it again but I only ever had 3 games on it: Star Wars Battlefront, Sonic Heroes and GTA: San Andreas. So, I was wondering what everybody's favourite games for PS2 are? To give an idea of what games I might like to pick up.

- Jak and Daxter; Precorsor's Legacy (maybe 2, 3 and lost frontier also)
- All 5 Ratchet and Clank games.

Six tricky
Disaster report
Second sight

Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
Final Fantasy X
God of War Series
Final Fantasy XII
Grand Theft Auto Series
Timesplitters 1 and 2

Those are just a few but there are so many games to choose from.

What genre of games to you prefer?

The PS2 has the best library of all the home consoles IMO and there's lots to satisfy fans of any type of genre be it RPG, action, 3D platforming, shooters, etc.

It's also a great system to collect for as most of the games are still relatively cheap to acquire.

I agree with this assessment. Not only does it have the largest library out there, but it also has the highest ratio of good games to bad imho. There is a game for almost anyone on the ps2.

There are so many great games for that system it's hard to believe. I thoroughly enjoyed the kingdom hearts games and final fantasy x. If your a fan of Battlefront, I highly recommend the second (it's a much better version of the first). The Sly Cooper series (although quite easy) is amazing.

I also agree with every other game that has been mentioned, especially God of War. If your a fan of beat-em-ups the Ninja Turtles series is great as well (some of my personal favorites)

Sleeper picks: Klonoa 2, Lord of the Rings series, Time Crisis series, Tony Hawk series (not really a sleeper because they are quite popular)

Time Splitters is by far my favorite.  I was also a sucker for the Gran Tursimo's

It's a great system to collect for. I pick up all my games for 2 bucks each, most are ebay priced at 15 and have bought ones worth up to 100 so far.

My favourites from the PS2 were:

- Kingdom Hearts
- Final Fantasy
- Burnout
- GTA
- Tekken
- Dragon Quest 8 (Huge game).
- Devil May Cry
- Ratchet and Clank
- Jak and Daxter

Those are the ones I'd definitely grab if you see laying around anywhere. There's just so many popular titles to choose from.

I purposely left Shadow of the Colossus off my list. I remember buying it as soon as it was released, beating it in twelve hours, and trading it in for the far superior Resident Evil 4.

That's not to say the game wasn't any good, it just didn't resonate with me very well. The world felt empty and void of life in between colossus battles, I didn't like the made-up language, and the ending kind of blew in my opinion.
