Question about retro system cleaning
Thom Grayson:
Is the drive people are selling the same as the one that the PS3 came with, or just 'equivalent'? It's not super important, I'm just wondering
quickfingers818:
I think they are equivalent. The first time I had to change the laser on my blu ray drive I got it from another used ps3. That only lasted about 7 months before it went out again. I then replaced it with a laser I got on eBay and it has been over 4 years and it has not failed on me yet, nor does it seem to give any indication it will in the future. I use my ps3 all the time and the drive is holding up pretty well. Before I could tell the drive would start to go out when it it starts to get loud when reading blu ray discs. But now my drive is pretty silent even after 4 years of consistent use.
Hoggs17:
what brand of drive did you buy? 4 years seems like it's pretty long lasting, i think i'd like to give that one a shot.
quickfingers818:
to be honest with you I don't remember the brand that I got from the seller on eBay cause its been so long. But as long as you can find a drive that is new on eBay from a reputable seller whose sold the item multiple times I am sure it would work great.
