So as you guys probably already know Sony unveiled a virtual reality headset yesterday at the GDC. Just wanted to know what your guys' thoughts are. Are you at all excited about it? Anyone planning on getting it? And how much do you think it'll cost?

No matter what VR stuff comes out, it's still a step backwards from Atari:

Kind of the opposite end (No video\picture with the mindlink), but when you have a company releasing a controller that reads your mind, all VR seems weak after that.

And didn't sony already do a VR helmet once? I know Atari had a beta for the jaguar.

The VR has intriequed me always.

Hopefully they release a really good adventure RPG, instead of another FPS.

"Increases computer and game system intent to purchase" is fave part. Do they make one that decreases intent to purchase because I blow too much $ on games

one thing that makes me really curious is how much this thing is gonna cost. if it cost just as much as the system itself then there is no way I will be buying into this virtual reality stuff. we will soon find out once the oculus rift becomes available to the public

I wonder if anyone has a prototype of this thing......would be really neat to try it and see what they thought of as virtual reality back then

Zero interest in VR for me in gaming, as I get motion sickness most of the time playing first-person games. Would be interested in other applications like virtual tours of famous landmarks, museums, etc. though.

I'm interested, but I'm not sold on VR yet. I haven't tried it yet. And even when I do get my hands on a headset I'd like to have it on for a couple hours, and not just five minutes.

Is it heavy? Will it hurt my neck? Will it cause headaches if worn for extended hours? Does it even really improve your gaming experience at all?

I have a lot of questions, and I'd hate to spend a shit ton of money on a gimmick that collects dust. But who knows? Maybe it will be the device that revolutionizes the way we interact with games and other media.

As much as I want to wish with you, I know that the FPS genre outsells almost all others. Money talks.

It's pretty hard to get excited about something like this.  It's the same sort of thing that game and tech companies have been promising for literally decades, and nothing (affordable) ever seems to come from it.

And even if it does launch, I doubt the software support will make it worthwhile.

There's one or two, was thinking two.   It worked like a paddle controller, so you had 2 directions, left or right.  It worked by reading your muscle or eyebrows more than anything else. Picture playing breakout with your eyebrows, and that's it.
