Unless your that rich and that bored with your money I would just stick to buying an nes top loader, the retron 5 when it comes out, or just make a cheap pc emulator and play your nes games through hdmi through that method.

To be honest most people call us retro game players idiots for buying games when you can emulate them. I don't think anyone has the right to call someone an idiot for how they enjoy spending their money. Only time you can complain is when someone spends your money.

I understand, and anyone can do whatever they please with their money. But in what universe is it practical to buy an HDMI equipped NES for 650 bucks (not including tax and shipping)? That just sounds absolutely absurd considering that you can just use emulation and get the same, if not better, resolution for a fraction of the price.

For one where do you see it being advertised at 650? Thats the price of their CMVS. Also again you can say the same thing about emulation to all the collectors, and buyers of retro games. That argument is pretty odd to see appearing on a site dedicated to the recreation of game covers, which mostly ranges into the retro era.

Im just basing it off the price of their current hardware, cause I can't imagine it being any cheaper. And im not trying to argue, I was just stating my opinion. And it is unlikely that anyone investing this much money into a piece of hardware will use it for anything other than playing their nes games. Just saying that there are more practical ways to enjoy higher resolution nes games. I, myself, prefer the real games over emulation, but emulation is much more convenient and in most cases more practical. And if anyone on these forums ends up buying one of these, I would like to hear your experience with the device and how it stacks up compared to other nes clone systems.

wiggy:

Emulation is imperfect and takes away a lot of what it was/is to play these old games. Much like vinyl over CDs/MP3s/etc, there is a process required to play. There is upkeep. There is storage and display. The list goes on and on.

Calling it a waste of someone's money, in this particular type of community, is a bit insulting.  All of us are buying similar items, but I'm sure that a quick scan through past pickup threads would reveal a large number of items, purchased by other users, which don't at all fall in line with your tastes.  Boutique items are boutique times. They aren't for everyone. I should know ;)

BadChad:

I wouldn't be so quick to judge that this will be just as much as their CMVS. When you get into anything Neo Geo related, expect to see high prices. It's usually quite expensive to create anything brand-new in the Neo Geo universe, but I wouldn't say the same for the NES at all.

Guess we wont know until it announced, but I cant see it being worth anymore than the $150-$200 area. And in that case, it better be damn good with all the super cheap clones out their already.
