So apparently you need them to change size and shape on demand.  Oooo ooo, and make them bigger on the inside than the outside too!

I think if they were the same height and depth but thinner they would look good on a shelf next to original boxes.

Yes this.

And make them roomy enough inside so I can store all my shelves with games in it, but outside should be 3DS case size so Ican store it nice next to my TV.

This exactly.

I think the perfect thicnes is about half of the original box (or Genesis clam shell).

I would love purple cases!

Sega color is blue... but if these are also for Worder Swan games then purple for those.

Didn't a lot of Game Gear games come in purple packaging? Even some of the labels have the purple spines right? I can dig blue too though!

EU template was blue in the newer games (older were the black with gray grid).

In my mind it has always been:

Nintendo = Red
Sega = Blue
Sony = Yellow
Microsoft = Green
Atari = Orange (was green)
3DO = Purple

That's why i say just stick to black cases.

That way everyone regardless of where they are from will have cases that look good with their covers. Genesis/Megadrive cases were all black anyway.

Box dimensions.

HEIGHT:  6"
WIDTH:  4 3/8"
SPINE:  1"

The manual is 1/4" shorter in height and width

Surprisingly the dimensions round off to pretty even measurements. I measured one of my mint sealed GameGear boxes for this so it should be spot on.

So! As several of you know I am working on the GB/GBC/GBA game cases, these should be out soon! However, in the mean time, all sorts of people are talking about a creation of a GG case. So I have created this thread to use as a discussion board on the creation of the GG Cases.  ;)

I am a Nintendo guy myself and have only played the GG about a dozen times in my life.

So the first few items I want to hash out on this are:
1.) What size should the cases be?
2.) What features would you like it to have?
3.) What color (or colors) should the cases come in?
4.) How many would you want to purchase?

This case was honestly number 5-6 on my list of cases I'm going to create, but IF we can hash this out I might make these my next cases to create.

1. close as possible to ds case dimensions
2. all i want is the manual to fit in the case
3. black is all i would need
4. put me down for 100 if you ever make these

What about:
Case dimensions.

HEIGHT:  6"
WIDTH:  4 3/8"
SPINE:  1/2" (?)

I think my first run WILL be black (Glossy finish? Or a sand/matte finish like the DS cases?)

I would say matte finish so it matches the Genesis and Master System clamshells.

Personally i was hoping for the exact same size box but can make due with a thinner spine.  The height and width are my biggest concern and as long as those don't change i am interested. The bigger things you will miss out on by not going with the retail box width is the collector market. There are some big time collectors out there that won't bother with anything unless it resembles retail.

Also when we create the covers for these the spine logo will have to be much smaller to accommodate the thinner spine. We will have to go pretty custom for the spines.

I think the reason I was wanting to reduce the spine size was mainly to give it a slimmer appearance. (Especially if I make these also hold Swan and TG-16 as both these items are super thin, and a 1 inch case might look a bit silly)

Thought?

I can cope with thinner spine if other dimensions are correct - same as shenske

I would say make sure the manual and cart can comfortably fit in 0.5". It may be tight for thicker manuals, some of the sports games have really thick manuals.
