Hi guys...

I was wondering if any of you could help me out?

My sister and her friends are going to nyc and she said that she could bring back som retro games for me, which is great. I just can't seem to find any retro game stores in nyc... Well I found two but their prices were way too high.

Does any of you know of any good stores in nyc with reasonable prices?

Thanks in advance. :)

Don't even bother. Mom and pop stores have gone to the waist side here. I think i know which 2 stores those are, Videogames NY and some store in the lower east side on St. Marks street. All crooks. NY isn't the place to shop for retro or games lol. There are a couple of stores up on the eastside of Harlem but again they think they are the gamestop of retro. No good deals. Chinatown you can forget about it, some store called JB games or JL games charge over 30$ for fifa on sega saturn lol. Also the surrounding boroughs have gotten the ebay syndrome so no good deals there. So yea no reasonable spots unless you craigslist and hook up with people gettin rid of stuff.

This pretty much goes for anyone with craigslist so maybe this is the wrong section... but don't forget to check the free section. People list games there sometimes. Tons of old CRT tvs in the free section too..

yeah your not gonna find too many game stores in nyc with reasonable prices. you might as well just buy games off eBay if you want to buy games in ny. i remember going to digital press a couple years back and they were just as expensive as eBay.

Thanks guys.

Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but nice to know that it is a waist of time and money to hunt retro games in nyc. I was really hoping to finally get chrono trigger, super mario rpg and mega man 6, since these games never made their way to Europe. C'est la vie. :)

The stores I found chargede more for standard games than any retro shop I have come across in Europe, which was a bit of a chock. I have always thought of the States as the best an cheapest place to go retro hunting - apparently that does not go for New York.

Appreciate the help, thanks. :)

I know some in Stamford that are good, but they seem to be over a hour away, good store for higher end games, got a 32X for $40, not the best for stuff under $4.
Retro Games Plus has 2 locations. Google it.

yeah the place on ST. Marks is a little pricy but they do have some ok prices.  VG New York is a little better.  I have found some good deals there.

New York City is the most expensive city in the US. About the worst place to buy anything as a tourist :(
