As for Super Nintendo, you have a great list there.  Let me give you a warning on a couple of those titles, though...

Super Mario Kart - If you grew up with Mario Kart 64, this game MAY be a bit disappointing.

Actraiser 2 - As a huge fan of the first game, I think this game is just crap.

Earthbound - Pretty expensive.  Is it worth the price?  To me it was, but to some it may seem over-rated.

Harvest Moon, Mega Man X3 & 7, Pocky & Rocky 2 - Same thing - Expensive.  You may want to try these out somewhere before you buy them.

My suggestion would be to focus on Mario World 1 & 2, Super Mario All-Stars, Zelda, Turtles IV, and Super Metroid to start.

Other Games to check out:
Tetris Attack
Tetris & Dr. Mario
Killer Instinct
Aladdin
Lion King
Bust-A-Move
Earthworm Jim
Final Fight Series
Joe & Mac
Super Star Wars Series

There is also SOS/sink or swim on the snes (the escape from a sinking cruise ship platformet, not the puzzle one) - which is absolutely fantastic, but pretty rare and pricey.

You've likely heard this before, but anything Capcom or Konami from the NES and SNES era is usually gold.

Two games that I believe must be added to your list:

Bucky O'Hare
Journey to Silius

Some honourable mentions that you may want to check out in the future:

Batman
Chip 'n' Dale's Rescue Rangers
The Adventure Island series
Shadow of the Ninja
Tiny Toon Adventures

Hello all! Just thought I'd give an update on how I've been doing on my NES and SNES Collections. Its been a little over a year and I have had a blast collecting and playing these games that I never got to experience as a kid (due to my age of 21). The NES has some really good ports of arcade games that are worth playing.

Elevator Action - nearly perfect port, very fun.
Arkanoid - if you can pick this one up with the special controller for a decent price, it's a perfect port.
Blades of Steel - like Contra, NES port is better than the arcade.
Rush 'n Attack
Mario Bros. (original) & Popeye - fun old Nintendo arcade games.

These can generally be found for $5 - $15 each, although the Arkanoid controller may run you $30. Unfortunately, there's no other proper way to play it, and it's not used for any other game.

shouldn't take to long to get to 50 NES games! Aside from Gargoyle's Quest II your want list are games that are fairly inexpensive :)

I know you've got your list set, but thought I'd mention Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Run Saber, RoboCop vs The Terminator, Batman Returns, and The Death and Return of Superman would all be great additions to your SNES collection.
