Bootleg Games in the Phillipines?
(1/1)
CloudGamerX:
I am going to be going to the phillipines for vacation in a couple days and i am thinking of buying some NES, SNES, and Genesis (Mega Drive) games while i am there. I know all 3 of these consoles have seen pirated games before, but they've mainly been from Brazil, China, Korea, or Russia. But this makes me wonder, are there pirated NES, SNES, and Genesis games in the phillipines? I don't want to come back home thinking i got a great deal on a game and find out it's fake.
Blumpkin:
Based on nothing scientific, I'd bet 80% of the games there are pirated.
Thom Grayson:
I agree with Blumpkin. There's consensus, so therefore it's more scientific!

But seriously, most things that seem too good to be true are.

Sad to say, but you are more than likely to find counterfeit/pirated games out there, even for older game consoles like the NES/SNES/Genesis etc. My guess is that if you are seeking these types of games, you should be savvy to see what's counterfeit and what's not. (and thus, know what to look for in authentic cartridges)
On the bright side, getting a pirated/counterfeit version of a hard-to-find game (say for example, Gleylancer on Mega Drive) shouldn't be a bad idea if you want to at least have a playable cart to have & to hold. i see it as getting a repro cart.
Overall a pirated/counterfeit cart shouldn't cost you no more than $20 bucks, and i'd even be one to negotiate the price if i come across one overseas.
