There is nothing embarrassing about that at all. Shoot, I do it all the time. A few years ago I bought a bunch of Sega Saturn games on eBay and I bought them all at once. The post office had to bring almost 4 sacks full of my games and I was Christmas for me as well  :)

And yeah I am glad I was buying games on eBay when the prices were actually practical, unlike it is today where common games are twice the asking rate from 5 years ago

Awesome pickup segamer! If you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying for House of the Dead? That is one of the few saturn games I really want but I just can't seem to muster up the $100.00 asking price on eBay

Unfortunately, I paid $145... Which is about the current trending price.

Ouch.....Its one of the few Saturn games left that I really want, so I might have to just suck it up as well and buy one soon before the price gets insane.

Really? Damn, I've had that game since it came out and figured it wasn't worth anything haha. Is it considered rare or something?

Retro games are starting to really get pricey and that sucks. I just got into collecting last year, wish I would have been into years and years ago when prices were low. Lucky for me I guess is I've kept every game I've ever owned (minus a small handful of crap ones I've traded) so my collection is decent sized and full of stuff I really like.
Take something like Contra, a game I never owned but would rent often as a kid. Now I want a copy to own and  the asking price is right around $50 for a loose cart...WTF...that game isn't rare and the prices don't make a lick of sense?!?

I was thinking $200+ would be insane and in the future it could very well get that high in pricing. But your absolutely right, 145 is insane as well.

Picked up the Stick of Truth: Grand Wizard Edition today.

Overall it feels like a cheap cash in compared to the Tales of Symphonia Chronicles CE.

Also grabbed a copy of Legend of Legaia.

I loved this game when it came out and it's one of the few RPGs I still needed for the ps1.

Unfortunately it has aged teribly in the graphics dept.

Lol thats one of the reasons I dont own that one on a cart today. Use to rent it all the time too... but im not paying over $30 to own it. Its not rare and therefore its not worth rare prices.

I try to find deals when I can and I own some nice items for which I'm proud of the price I paid, but if you aren't willing to suck it up and shell out some bucks for a few of the retro titles you really want you could be searching forever and still never find them.

My time isn't worth gold, but after a certain point, it's not worth it to invest tons of hours trying to save a few bucks on some rare game. I love the thrill of the hunt as much as the next guy, but the more games I cross off the list, the harder it is to find what I want.

That's why I rarely move on craigslist deals anymore. Ebay is so convenient. I can find my games in the same position I'm in now. If I'm on craigslist it better damn well be a smoking hot deal for me to actually get up, drive, and then go deal with a stranger. People spend thousands of dollars on stupid paintings and bottles of wine they'll never drink and they're smart for buying it because they're getting something they want. Get and do the things you like and make you happy. We're all going to die anyway. It's stupid not to be happy a bit before you're dead.

agree with you but some guys on ebay are insane with the prices of things, example mario sunshine, i'm searching for that game right now (my wife love that game and im looking to buy it) and it's $30+ some times without shipping on ebay and it's not a rare game to be at that price, others are contra, super c, zelda etc

So I had some UGC's to trade and told FritzWhite to send me whatever he wanted that I didn't already have. I did request at least a Dreamcast controller if possible as I only had one "official" controller.

I love blind boxes. :)

Here's what I received today:

Dreamcast Controller in box with VMU
Super Famicom to SNES adapter (requires SNES game plugged into back)
Puzzle Bobble for Super Famicom

Genesis:
Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle
Mystic Defender
Kid Chameleon

PS1:
Croc 2
CTR
LEGO Island 2
Mortal Kombat Trilogy
The Next Tetris
Pac-Man World
Tomb Raider
Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation

Xbox:
Halo
Doom 3

PS2:
God of War II
Ratchet and Clank
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
Red Faction
Red Faction II

I also stopped by the local Gamestop and got a couple of things for me, and a few games for my daughters birthday next month (the 3ds games)

3DS:
Nintendogs + Cats
Super Mario 3D Land

PS3:
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix
