One question though, would it be possible for you to start making covers using a Japanese style cover template as well? I'm guess I'm not in any hurry to put any of my Saturn games in DVD cases, but the purist in me cringes at the sight of Japanese games shoehorned into an American cover template.

I used to use the Japanese style back when I was trying to make covers for the Slim DVD Saturn project. The reason I turned away from it in favor of the American style is that I plan to also amass a Sega CD collection at some point and I'd like the two styles to mesh.

What I used to do while I was still printing covers off in the Japanese Slim style but people started doing American style was copy a large part of the front image (enough so it would scale proper) and do the same with the back image. Only did it with a few, but it usually worked great.

Edit: Oh yeah, I was actually making the cover thinking that MMX3 actually came to America. Turns out it did actually come to Europe though, although I have yet to find a European copy (and I somehow bet it would be enormously expensive).

Those Megaman and Lunar covers look very good the7k. Everything except for the title on the Megaman games.. The edges are sharp and you can see some left over back grown spots from when you cropped and pasted it.

An easy way to prevent the sharp edges is to uses some Feathering when cropping. This will give you a more soft edge that will make the title blend better into the background image.

Remember!  FEATHERING IS YOUR FRIEND... =)

This cover is alright so long as when you print it, you don't look to close at the cover. I really wanted to use this image, but I just couldn't ever get it to look very sharp.

Btw, thanks for the complements; means a lot coming from you guys. I'm not sure I understand the concept of feathering, though. The only time it pops up is when I'm selecting something, and then it selects a small area outside of what was selected. Am I doing this right? What course of action do I undertake from here?

Kinda makes me think that maybe we should start a thread in tutorials about sharing image editing techniques and tips. We have plenty of guides on printing, modding cases, etc but not much about the actual creating of a cover.

Oh yeah, I'll try to fix the MMX3 covers when I can get around to it.

Doom:

I made a wiki page on clean up tips, but naturally, nobody cared. When I write enough for a full guide I'll definitely make one.
