GIMP troubles

I'm kinda sick of using PhotoStudio, so I recently downloaded GIMP. However, every time I try to open it, within seconds I get the "The application gimp-2.4 quit unexpectedly" message. I am running OS X Leopard on a Macbook, and I can't figure out what's wrong. Any suggestions?

Try running it from the command line with the "--verbose" option -- what does it say?

You could also run it through a debugger.

And I suppose you installed the pre-requisite X11 environment?
