So, I have a few games I want to scan, and so far that has been going pretty well for my first scans. I am scanning at 600DPI just so it is easier to work with in photoshop.

Now I want to create covers that are acceptable to be added to the cover project but most of my covers are slightly lighter and less vibrant then the ones uploaded. I can play with the vibrance, brightness. and hue to get the desired result. But still am not sure if it what thecoverproject is looking for. I haven't found a guide for editing raws into ready to use covers, or read anywhere about what qualifies a submission for use on the website.

deopents on for which console the cover is.

But what we want generally is:

Sharp clean images.
No moire
No scratches
No dust
no streching.
300DPI
Correct size.
Correct legal info.
Correct barcode.

Post one ready cover and we will check it and tell what needs to be done.

Here is my first ever scan:

and Here is my first cover attempt:

All Feedback/Criticism is very welcomed! I can see the moire effect and need to look more into that, as well a small wear on the spine.
I tried to sharpen the second image but it seems to have made the moire effect, more (no pun intended) visible. I will continue seeing what I can do to make something better.

Actually your cleaning screwed up almost perfect cover ;D

SoI would say that if you take the top PS3 banners from the "READY" cover and put them to your raw scan and then fix the light blue lines above anfd below the bonus map included and around the screenshots and the actual text that says included and fix the text saying Activision under the word included that cover just might pass.

PS1-PS3 stuff is notoriously bad when it comes to moire, and is probably unavoidable, but that is one good scan.

Here I took a 600dpi scan, and edited it to get rid of the Moire BEFORE shrinking it down to the correct size, and I think it looks perfect for upload.

what do you think?

I used the same method to try it on a PS1 Game

I really want to contribute to the site, considering the 80+ covers I'm going to print out for my NES/SNES/N64 games with the UGC's I have coming in the mail.

I have a good amount of PS1, PS2, PS3 games and would love to use my photoshop skills to help.

The Call of Duty Ghost cover looks like you cut off a bit of bottom of the back of the cover and the white light on the front should be removed.
Could you scan your covers a bit straighter on the scanner too?

Here's an example of what I did for the call of duty cover. I could done a bit better job on it.

The Playstation 1 jewel case cover looks good but, a few spots could be touch up on the front of Madden 2003 cover.

thanks for the help! I think I may have made them a bit too dark aswell, I tried printing some out too see and honestly I realized I shouldn't play with the brightness of my scans at all! just the contrast.

You mean the raw scan to the madden game?

the raw scan of Ghosts is on there.

I also found a way to make straight scans like you requested.
