As you all know, i live in the Dominican Republic, and had some stuff that i wanted to sell but as i know here in my country no body was going to pay what is worth. so i decided to sell them on Ebay, that way i would earn money, save that mone in paypal and then use it to buy video game lot on ebay, keep what i need and sell again the ones that i don't need, some of you are doing the same, excellent idea  8)   ;D right?, WRONG , turns out that shipping from the state to the Dominican Republic is cheap 3 dollars per pound (that's when i buy), but when i went to the postal office to ship the items i had sold they charge me 10 per Pound  :o. So i sold 2 items for 20 each that's $40, and each item had 2 pounds and for my surprice i had to pay $40 to ship them  :o. so now i realice that i can't buy lot to sell them again because shipping from here is insane.

Any idea?

That is very unfortunate. Are there any alternative companies that can ship the items with? Anything like FedEx or UPS down there?

Sell locally? Or try to find out if there's any cheaper options for shipping maybe.

Besides, shipping overseas is fairly expensive anyways... :(

International shipping prices, are in fact, ridiculous. I myself don't even bother giving the option of international shipping when I list stuff on eBay. I can totally understand why people of these forums overseas resort to double wide DVD cases to case their games. Shipping over UGCs just isn't practical when you have to pay the same amount for shipping as you do for the actual item, and in a lot of cases even more! There really is no way around it. Its either you pony up the dough to ship internationally or don't even offer that option. I've tried FedEx, UPS, and USPS, and even though USPS is the cheapest, they are anything but cheap

The only company I haven't tried is DHL. you might want to check with them and see if they might be reasonable

I could have sworn eBay had a good international shipping program. You may want to look into it.

and agree with you on this, is riduculous. why if i buy something is $3/pound to ship from the state to the Dominican republic and if i try to ship from the Dominican Republic to the state is $10/pound? that shouldn't be. it's the same thing all the way around

This... and you can pay beforehand so you don't get screwed once at the post office.

That program is shit.
It forces sender to use expensive fast shipping option instead of slow and cheap.

Also it forces to pay customs, when normally 99% slips by.

I've sold Hot Wheels and games on eBay internationally, but the buyers (Canadian and Australian) have addresses in the US. I don't know how they get their stuff to them from there, but it seems that having a go-between is the way to do it.
