Being the nerd and asshole I am, I want to recommend a Linux based operating system, but I doubt the battlefield games would run on it. But Vista sucks. At the very least get XP on there. But for MSN, there's plenty of free chat clients. Hell, some you don't even have to download:

I pretty much fall into the same category.... (at least the asshole part)

The only reson I wanted to use windows messenger, was that it came with xp, all my other computers have it (including my wife and daughter's - the only people I chat with - other than TheValeman.)

I was a chatter back in the old days (when I was single and looking for a good time  ;) ... not so much now...

For some reason, I just like to have as few programs on my computers as possible.....
I don't like spyware, adware or the like....   So far I have spent like 2 hours ridding the new computer of all the crap that came pre-installed, and anything that even attempts to connect to the internet or requires me to give out my email address is given a long, hard look.

Thanks for the suggestions....

Edited to Add: The new laptop did not look so big in the store, but now next to my old one, its friggin' huge
TheValeman:
ROFLMAO!!! I thought bigger was always better as long as you know what to do with it :-)

Just do as Snowcone says and grab all the necessary XP drivers first and then dump Vista for XP.

I had Vista on my desktop PC for a while and there were a few niggles with the Battlefield games in terms of stuttering frame rate glitches etc so I went back to XP and havent looked back. And XP definitely plays better in 2gb of RAM than Vista.

Jeez ... you've been outta town for a while now my friend!

I was holding off posting Ragnarok's FIFA 99 until you got back so I could post the LAST N64 US cover but I couldn't outwait you dammit. And it turns out there's some Hercules game we dont have the cover for so it made it pointless holding off uploading it. Ragnarok will be pleased his contribution is online now anyway :)
Ragnarok2103:
yeah, i noticed you uploaded it. thank you.

I have been gone so long, I forget what I am supposed to upload when i get home.....  :(
