| Using DS cases for Cd based games |
| (1/1) |
| thersonly_1:
I am new to this, I have been getting many of Sega Saturn JP Shmups lately and they are crazy expensive complete. I have a bunch of old DS cases and I was curious if anyone has used those cases for CD based games. They seem to be the perfect size. |

For CD based games where you do not have a jewel case and are looking to apply a cover, I'd recommend poly cases. They work very well and are extremely cheap to purchase. They are also much more durable than a jewel case. Check out the following thread for more info: http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=13023.0 As for the DS case, they are terrible as they cannot actually hold the game in place, and I'd imagine they would scuff up the CD pretty bad. |

I was going to suggest these: http://www.amazon.com/100-Pack-Center-Adhesive-Backing/dp/B001OEX1X4 But CDs don't really seem to fit in DS cases at all? |

This forum post may help. Its more info about the poly cases. I personally use them and love them! ;D http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=5061.0 --- Quote from: shenske on February 28, 2011, 08:41:37 PM ---PlayStation1 - 8-Disc Poly Case Cover Thread Like our covers on the site? A little reluctant to seeing your favorite games that were originally in jewel cases in DVD form? There are many reasons why people on the site like to convert their favorite games from the jewel cases to DVD cases. The DVD cases are easier to come by, look nice on the shelf and the covers are easier to create being only one image. Finding muliti-disc housing cases are also much easier to come by in DVD cases than the jewel cases. DVD cases are also more durable and ..... well you get the idea. But what about the people who like the original cover art but don't want to see it butchered up and dissected for DVD case use? There is a solution ... "8-Disc Poly Cases" Its a solid DVD like case case with similar deminsions to the original jewel cases. Nice thing is that it shares all the same positive perks are the DVD cases without the need to rework or cut apart the jewel case cover art. The jewel case art should be an easy transformation to these new ploy cases, the only real work is just cleaning the cover image and creating a spine. I'll make it very easy for you guys when i make the template, it should only take a few minutes to make each new cover if the artwork is already clean. What the cases look like and where to get them You are welcome to Google the cases and find your own or you can try the sites that i have found. Keep in mind that the cases must be the "8-Disc Poly Cases" in order to properly fit the covers in this thread. Do not I repeat DO NOT get the "6-Disc" , "12-Disc" or "24-Disc" versions of the cases as they will not fit the covers on this thread. The other cases are much wider than the "8-Disc Poly Cases." The following are some stock photos of the cases directly from some of the sites that sell the cases. Black http://www.meritline.com/8-disc-dvd-multi-pack-black-case---p-45030.aspx http://www.burnsmart.com/8-Disc-Black-Poly-Case-p/68887.htm White http://www.burnsmart.com/8-Disc-White-Poly-Case-p/68888.htm Clear http://www.meritline.com/8-disc-dvd-multi-pack-frosty-clear-case---p-45031.aspx http://www.burnsmart.com/8-Disc-Clear-Poly-Case-p/68889.htm Here is an example of what the covers could look like. These images are just Works In Progress and only took 2min a piece to make. After the template is complete it is not unrealistic to think that we can make cover that quickly (as long as the images are already cleaned up of coarse). ..............................new images to be added soon ................................ The case is actually ~15mm but thats pretty close to what I am looking for. I think it would be a good solution since it can hold up to 8 discs (we can put the instruction manual and other goodies in the blank sleeves or just remove them). As always, opinions welcome! --- End quote --- |

It seems (in my mind) like it would look nice, but my imagination has failed me before... |
