The power thing is no problem as SNES power supply is external = you just buy a new power supply roughly 10 pounds.

SFC/US SNES run on 110v right? Wouldn't the EU 230v power supply fry the thing?

If I understood correctly he can do mod with switch, but if you want switchless mod you should go to that site.

He has nothing to do with the site if I understand correctly, but I too have heard only good about that site.

Arseen is correct, i can only do the mod with a switch

no connection with that site either, have used him in the past with no problems, just thought id recommend him if you wanted to go switch-less...

No.

Input is 110 in US and 230 in Europe but both output 9 or 10 volts.
But the SNES end is different so you need this:

Or consolegoods.co.uk do both the scart cables and power cables.  Have used them before, good quality stuff.

You mean Super Famicom?

It has same problem as PAL SNES: in order to fit US carts in it you'll need to widen the cart slot which in my honest opinion looks stupid.
US SNES with the wide cart slot does not have this problem, hence I suggest that as the base.

For US SNES to play JAP games you just need to cut 2 tabs inside the cart slot which can be done even without opening the SNES, but to be on safe side I'd recommend opening the the SNEES for the mod.

I don't know does UK power adapter physically fit in the JAP Super Famicom, but the voltage is correct.

I'd mainly want a mod for playing Famicom carts. I can always fit US carts into a EU shell if I really wanted to play them. US carts are ugly anyways :P

OK, in that case total cost wise getting Super Famicom and power cable to it will be cheaper than modding.
But space wise and for convinience mod switch is better.

Up to you.

Or like Matti Nykänen (best skii jumper ever) said: it's up yours. ;D

I've got too many consoles hooked up to my RV already, so I'll go with the modding I guess.

Thanks, and Dr. Agon (Dragon Quest pun?), I'll keep you posted :)

well, after a couple of months and a few PM's this bad boy is done! 8)

by far the hardest part was getting hold of the SNES, the mod itself was super easy!

uploading a v.crappy video...

EDIT:

ok, so mediafire and photobucket are both being shits, so youtube it is then!

Hit me up if you ever need one again. They're really easy to find for a good price in my neck of the woods.

edit: wait, you used an EU SNES?  Won't be able to play US games without an adapter of some sort :-\

The best modding from my point of view is this: https://web.archive.org/web/20130609134131/http://wolfsoft.de/wordpress/?p=603
Sadly the blog is down for the moment...
It has 100% compatibility.
