well as some of you know I don't like soo much handheld but recently I notice that my nice (15) and a nephew (10) are no longer using there DS, so I might get there games for free, my nice told me that she was thinking on giving them to me. so I might start collecting handheld, but I won't do it as I do with consoles (I like to play each game in there respective consoles), I would like to have them with one handheld in general, so DS, Ds lite, 3DS all in one, I decided to go with 3DS or 3DS XL for it's backwards  thing.

And want to know if 2DS games can be played in a 3DS or 3DS XL?

2DS games can be played in the 3DS and 3DS XL.

If you get a DS/DS Lite, you can also play GBA games.

There aren't actually any 2DS games, a 2DS is just a 3DS without the 3D. I have a 3DS and a 3DS XL and definitely like the XL better, the screens are twice as big but the image doesn't look stretched and the battery lasts longer.

Yep XL is better: Bigger screens yet better battery life.

Agreed, XL definitely the way to go.

Just don't walk into a waist-high metal pole with it in your pocket...

This was my Zelda - A Link Between Worlds Special Edition XL.

(BTW, by 2DS games I was referring to original DS games)

Ouch. :'(

Well replacing the upper screen should not be too hard, nor expensive.

Yeah, I've seen a video of someone replacing the upper screen, and it looked easy enough. It's just fallen down the priority list a bit, as I've still got my old original 3DS to play games on, and so many other things I want to buy. :P

By the way Arseen, is there a way to see the results of a poll if I set it as "show the results after someone vote", If I create the poll I shouldn't vote, that will affect the results in my case, in other cases may not. There should be an option to let the creator of the poll to see the results without having to vote ;)

XL, hands down. Zero drawback aside from being a tad too big for a pocket.

I've enjoyed playing handheld games since I first received my Game Boy as a Christmas gift in the early 90's. As I've gotten older, I've found myself playing handhelds even more. There are plenty of good reasons to take up handheld gaming, especially the 3DS (XL).

First, I find handheld gaming to be far more conducive to an adult lifestyle -- it's not often I have time to sit down in front of the TV for several hours to play console games. Also on that note, handheld games tend to be shorter than most modern games, or at least can be completed sooner because I can make progress at a faster rate since I can play it whenever I find a spare minute or two. Handheld games have also come a long way since the early days and many of them are fantastic!

I never purchased an original 3DS after hearing many being somewhat unsatisfied with its design (the Start, Select, and Home buttons apparently felt cheap, and I heard the bottom screen would actually end up scratching the top screen over time). Once the 3DS XL came, my interest was piqued. By that time, many great games had been released as well. I also purchased a 2DS because it looked cool and, in truth it's kinda neat, but more limited compared to the 3DS XL. I also have a Zelda 3DS XL, but I can't bear to open it!

Welcome to the world of DS gaming! I think you'll like it here. Plus, it can never hurt to have one more 3DS out there to Streetpass!

If you click edit poll it shows how many have voted each option.
