Satoshi Matrix Reviews

Hey Cover Project. IIts been a long time comming, but now I've decided that I'd like to do video reviews on youtube. You often see rather crappy video reviews on youtube if they aren't done by some big name like gametrailers ign or gamespot. I mean people who are too loud or too quiet, have blurry videos of low quality, and people who claim things like "this game sucks balls becuase I don't like it". Not very useful.  Taking the common mistakes into mind, I've bought a video capture card and plan to do voice over work and edit together some intereresting reviews.

I plan to review games from basically anything: Commodore 64, NES, Famicom, Famicom Disk System (assuming I can fix mine), SNES, N64, Genesis, Sega CD (again, assuming i can fix it), Gamecube, Xbox, Xbox 360, Wii, Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance. I'd also really like to do DS and PSP if anyone can suggest a methoid of recording video without shinging a camera on an LCD screen and hoping for the best.

So right now I'm in my pre-launch phase. I don't know if any of you have backgrounds in video works or what have you, but I'm interested in a few things:

1. Suggestions for a name. "Satoshi Matrix Reviews" sounds rather dull to me but I'll use it if nothing else comes up.

2. Suggestions for programs I should use. Free would be preferred, but if there's an exceptional program I should buy don't hesitate to mention it.

3. Requests for games to review. Since I'm not using emulators I don't have EVERY game for EVERY system but I do own quite a veriaty for each so the chances are good I'll have it.

OKay so thanks for reading and I hope to hear back from you all.

this sounds like a very interesting endeavor. i tried something like this when i was younger with a couple of friends of mine, but of course it never really went anywhere. unfortunately i dont have any really technical know how in regards to doing this well, but have you thought of hosting it on your own site? youtube is not really the premier place for good game reviews. if you had your own site, you'd have a lot more freedom and control.  as to the games you should review, that can really be your own preference. personally, i'd like to hear about mostly newer games, but it would be interesting to hear about older games that aren't know to well now.  you know, like the 'greatest games you've never played' or whatever.  and you could also review horrible games, and show how terrible they are, sorta like what the 1up show does with broken pixels.

well, good luck. i hope it goes well.

oh, and a suggestion for a name... the odeon. odean means, "A kind of theater in ancient Greece, smaller than the dramatic theater and roofed over, in which poets and musicians submitted their works to the approval of the public, and contended for prizes; -- hence, in modern usage, the name of a hall for musical or dramatic performances."
i thinks its a nice name, cause it sounds like odin, and the definition kind of fits with what your doing.

I think it would be nice if you reviewed games on several levels. I hate the overall ratings systems, because there's just too many aspects of a game to say "It sucks 'cause the graphics aren't up to par" or "It's not innovative." I'd like to see reviews that give individual ratings for graphical standards (for the game's time of release of course), controls (responsive? Non existent?), story (is it going to keep me hooked?), length (Short? Praying for an ending?), innovation, style (atmosphere, and environment.), voice acting (if applicable), and musical score. I think giving ratings by every aspect like that would give people a much better idea of what to expect out of a game.

Update: I've gotten all the hardware nessesary to capture videos and create reviews. Now I need some input from you guys!

1. Suggestions for a program name. "Satoshi Matrix Reviews" sounds rather dull to me but I'll use it if nothing else comes up.

2. Requests for games to review. Since I'm not using emulators I don't have EVERY game for EVERY system but I do own quite a veriaty for each so the chances are good I'll have it. I've already decided I'm going to review Famicom Wars, but I'll fully willing to take requests.

After many delays getting the hardware and software together, I finally finished the first part of my first review! Please note that I'm running an actual copy of Famicom Wars on my actual Famicom. This isn't a rom!

I finished my Famicom Wars review (Part 1!!)

Please let me know what you think! If you like it, please comment, rate it, and subscribe! I hope to be reviewing a lot of games in the future, espically Famicom/NES titles. After I finish up with Part 2, I'll start work on Balloon Fight.

Thanks and give me feedback!
