N64 replacement sticks

Anyone have any experience with replacement sticks for N64 and GC controllers? What makes one sellers item better than another or are they all the same?

Hey thanks! Ive been in NES & SNES so long im just getting my n64 and GC back up and running and need to work on the controller. Games are a tad pricey....

Why replace them with a pre-used  n64 stick,  I am sure there are GameCube style replacements for n64 pads which are much better.

I happened to get one on ebay for around the same price as the one on amazon. The guy made the description sound good and says that its brand new so why not. Thanks for the input yall. I really appreciate it.

I've always wanted to grab some of these. Call me cheap but $8 seems kind of steep for a replacement stick. I can buy another Nintendo brand controller at the pawnshop for that price. I would have dove in some time ago but if i buy some i'd get at least 6 of them.

Hi.
A few time ago I bought one of those GameCube joystick style replacements for the N64 from the Nintendo Repair Shop website.
To be honest, it does not have the same "feeling". Let me explain myself.
For example, there is a mini game on Zelda Ocarina of Time where you have to destroy some jars with the bow on the Gerudo Valley.
The replacement stick is too sensitive, so with a little movement you will have trouble with your aiming.
Do not get me wrong, these joysticks are good and make the N64 controller feel new again, but you wont get the same thing like the old and cool original N64 joysticks.

I bought a replacement n64 joystick that resembles the GameCube style off Amazon a year ago. It works perfect but like the poster above me stated, FPS and shooting style mechanics take a little extra work to master with this joystick. It's not impossible though. Other types of N64 games don't have this issue.
It was easy to install.

I haven't played a "real" N64 since the GameCube was released. I play all my N64 games via Virtual Console and Zelda GameCube collections with the WaveBird. I bet when I get an N64 again, a GameCube stick on my N64 controller would feel BETTER than the original, since I'm more used to it.

I replaced some on my own as well and, as stated above, I also feel the sensitivity is a bit off.

Don't get me wrong, Mario 64, Paper Mario and all that work perfectly fine, but for shooters it'll take a lot of time to get used to.
Maybe they're too 'new' and need to be 'worn' to be like how they used to feel.

Still, great buy, and getting them replaced wasn't all that hard either.
