You must have an older child than I. KKFOS freaked me out when I was little to the point of not touching the VHS....I would kick it out of my way.

My kid is in the "drunken Sentence" making, sill in diapers, tantrum throwing stage.
FritzWhite:
My boy loves scary movies that are inappropriate for his age like KKfO and X-Files, but we haven't watched anything remotely scary in the last few months after he complained about nightmares.

You could argue that a kid should't be exposed to that stuff, but I guess I give mine more freedom because I always hated the restrictions placed on what I was allowed to see as a kid. A long as the violence, sex, profanity isn't too gratuitous, I don't think it's a big deal.

Also looked at an illustrated anatomy book with my boy last week and had no qualms explaining body parts to him. Why does a vagina need to be a huge mystery? I also spilled the beans on Santa Claus after Christmas and that I was the one that bought him presents, not Santa. A while back we watched a short movie about Egyptian pharaohs and talked a little about death. I hope that he'll appreciate me being a straight shooter with him when he's older. Time will tell.
Arseen:
I have been allowed to watch almost abything I wanted when I grew up.
My parents just said if i watch the movie, don't come crying to our bedroom if you get nightmares.
I really liked Gremlins and the V serie, and Candyman!

Yes I had nightmares, but I just shut the lights and said to myself movies are movies, and if monster comes and eats you least I had fun watching the movie ( I have always been real realisat).

It took less than a week to get rid of all nightmares and fear of darkness.

I do admit that I still prefer not to say Candyman 3 times in darkness to a mirror though... ;)
FritzWhite:
My grandma bought me Gremlins back in the 80s and she would let me stay up past my bedtime. Plus, she made me waffles. Loved her!

i think i know why my parents when i was little didn't let me watch horror movies, long story short, my mom, sister and i have feel, see and have some incendents involving death people or ghosts, and the bad part is that a lot of time when something hapens i like it. my dad and my brother haven't had any experience of that kind.

Last time i had one was more or less 5 years ago, and my sister, a friend and i ended up at 4 AM in a church, that time didn't like it, that was one of the 2 times in my life that something bad was arownd us
