SNES Player 2 issue, halp!
Plainsongs:
My pal SNES recently decided to not let player 2 work with the console. First I thought it was a matter of controllers, dirt/residue or games, but after testing everything out those issues were ruled out. The only thing that happens regardless of controller or game is: nothing. Player 1 works perfectly fine, but it just won't react to player 2 controller. There has been no modding to this console and no wear and tear other than the usual, never had an issue with it before.
Anyone had this problem or may know what caused it? ???
Could it simply a connection issue where the cable on the inside of console has broken or been unhooked?
I haven't been able to dissect it yet because my screw bit is off in nowhere land, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Any help is appreciated! :'(

Maybe broken second cotroller port, or if your lucky just too damn dirty.

Geez >:(
If the controller port is broken, would there be any point in replacing it at all or should one just get a whole new board?
What breaks a controller port? It hasn't been dropped or messed with really, could the usual plugging/unplugging cause this?
By the way, thank you for the reply, Arseen :D

If you find replacement port that should be cheaper.
I'd imagine that port 1 would break from wear and tear first as it's more used.
Hope it's just dirt, try cleaning the contacts carefully with alcohol.

It's sort of difficult to clean those contacts. They are tiny and not exposed in any way that would make it so that one could easily clean them :(
