I like my PSX and DC collection--the way it is, in its CD and GD-Rom jewel cases. Maybe they're not as big as modern DVD case covers, but it's how my collection is, and I'd like to continue it that way for the sake of convenience.

Why does no one seem to upload any PS1 or DC covers in their original CD tray forms anymore? I'd rather download ONE CD case art that I can print out and place my game with all of my other PSX games in CD cases than download one DVD artwork case for a game because it's the only one available, and subsequently to make sure that the rest of my games flush with it download 80 more.

Customs are great, but I like my originals, too.

Only reason they are not on the site is because nobody uploads them.  :)

We do have provision for jewel cases but they are not that popular.

In fact there are about 10 PSX games in jewel cover form awaiting upload

Actually, there are a lot of PSX games that were uploaded in their jewel case form, but someone makes a dvd case using the raws and then doesn't upload the jewel case parts, but they get removed from the raws section after the dvd case is made. I understand where Aganar is coming from completely. I imagine people don't really upload raws for jewel cases because they figure it'll just turn out to be a dvd case anyway, and unless they make a specific request, they're right.

Jup that was and is a point of "meself" too... Unfortuantely on our little project custom covers are very very popular... people want to put their games in DVD cases and nothing else.... They think that the uniform look of all of those games lined up is very nice on the shelf....

I'm completely on the same boat as Aganar.... I love my games in their original state except games that came in cardboard boxes and Genesis games.... For those the UGCs are a perfect solution to store them for eternity....

I often upload original covers by the way but only for other artists to make customs out of them... Unfortunately almost noone uploads the cleaned originals to the site too... :(

In the case of DC and PSX I rateh use the original Jewel case myself.

  • ...and that's the bottom line
Well in that case, if you can find the time besides your Sega CD project you could head over to the raw scans. The Dreamcast folder is full of CD case scans which would require just a little cleaning. TheValeman started to convert my wide-spine EU DC cases to normal-size CD case spines but US games are ready as is besides a little cleaning effort. Once they're done we could at last delete them to clean out the raw folder :)

I really don't have much work for SCD, Satrun or 3DO right now (I'm out of scans). I was working on slim versions of the covers I already uplaoded, but that can wait. I would love to work on some jewel case versions of DC and PSX.

What's frustrating is that there are games where there are custom covers with no regulars, and I know to have made the custom covers they had to have had the raws of the regular, but just didn't submit them :(

Especially the ones with the cover from the jewel case turned sideways on the back! :(

And Vt102, that'd be awesome if you'd work on them! Sounds like everyone would appreciate it!

The good news is taht I created a template for the jewel case DC covers a wile back. I'll take it out of mothballs, update it and start working on this side of the project.

Yeah, I've noticed this when looking for certain PSX scans.  Its frustrating.  I'm starting to print the ones I have found and will be using the guide for printing in paint (windows xp).  The front insert I'm getting ready to print is 300dpi, and the pixel dimensions for width and height are 1409 x 1413.  This is for a regular jewel case.  Do I need to adjust the dimensions at all?  What are the exact pixel dimensions suppose to be?

Thanks!

For normal jewel cases we decided that the original scanned dimensions will be kept after cleaning.....

I like my PSX and DC collection--the way it is, in its CD and GD-Rom jewel cases.

I feel your pain, I am the same way and am in the process of scanning all my CD case games. I leave the custom covers to others.
You may have already done this, but if you have specific game requests, you can make those and I will scan what I have.

Right now, I am away from home working, but hope to be home in the next month or so.....

If I have the actual labels and everything, I'll buy new cd jewels but if not I just make a dvd case for them, I don't know why but I just do, although I prefer the jewel stuff anyways becasue all the art is in proper aspect ratio but....I dunno.
