Sony advice needed please

As someone who's last Sony console was the PS2, I am requesting some advice from those who have more experience.

There were a few titles that were originally released on the PSP that I am still interested in playing.  While I am not truly interested in a handheld, I know that the PSP 3000 models do have component cables to connect to a TV.  I also realize that the Vita is essentially the newer replacement model for the PSP.....but again is a handheld.  My other concern is that I am more of a "owning the physical media" guy as opposed to downloaded games.  The games that I am interested in getting were originally for the PSP on the UMD format, but are also available for download from the playstation store.  I would prefer to play the games on a larger TV as opposed to the handheld.

If you were in my place, what would you suggest I do?

Buy a PSP 3000 with the component cables and connect to a TV and go with owning the physical media UMD dics?

Buy a PSP Vita and go the digital route ( can it connect to a TV)?

Buy a PS3 and go the digital route?  Can games that were originally released for PSP on UMD format be bought from the Playstation store and played on a TV through a ps3?

Going the PS4 route is not an option that i can consider at this point.

Here's info to help you make your decision:

PS3 cannot play PSP download games. Neither can PS4.

PS Vita cannot connect to a TV

There is a separate device coming out in the next year or so called PS Vita TV which is a non-portable Vita that outputs to a TV and uses either a Dualshock 3 or Dualshock 4 as the controls. Should retail around $100.

PSP's TV output does not take up the whole screen. It's got black bars all the way around. Like so:



There are Chinese-produced unofficial adapter boxes which will upscale the PSP video output to take up your full TV screen. I don't know a lot about them other than that they exist.

If your looking to play PSP games the simple answer would be to get a PSP. They are 100$ new with 3 games at microcenter

walmart has the same deal, but they are currently out of stock online

Its a fantastic system with great graphics, good controller, and games are fairly cheap. If you have any "5 Below" stores near you, they usually carry a handful of psp games new for 5$
I got the component out, but i found myself rarely using it. Just my 2 cents.

You can find them used for under 75$ on criagslist, but I'd go new and get the clean, scratch free one with a bundle of games

Im going to say that it depends on what games you are looking to play. Some are pricey.

Just curious if you know about MC because you have one close by. There's one about 5 minutes from my house. One of my favorite retail chains ever

I do, and I concur. Picked up a stack of 50+ ps1 games at the beginning of the summer for 50 cents each, many were new!
