Buying Games for Systems You Don't Have (Yet)

Dreamcast99:

Picked up Tetris for a Philips CDI, after 4 years I think I give up on hoping to find one on a Goodwill run.
If you have a modded xbox it plays TG16CD and sega cd games very well (and imo has a better controller, mainly due to cord length)

It's pretty rare that I find games for systems I do t have, so I don't really have that problem. If I actually do come across a game for a system I don't have, I usually pick it up then get the system later.

2600 was before my time but i'd like to get vader one sometime and a couple carts. and i do own dreamcast games with nothing to play them on, but generally i'll try to avoid that sort of situation since you can't confirm the used stuff you just bought actually works. only got a few snes, 3ds and vita games before picking the machines up.

I usually make it a point to avoid buying games for system I don't yet own. There have been a couple of exceptions here or there, but that's generally my rule. This rule mostly only applies to newer-gen systems, as I have all the older systems I want at this point. But I've missed out on good deals in the past simply because I couldn't justify the purchase without a system to play it on.

I've done this once. Street Fighter Alpha 3 for PS1. I never owned a PS1 or any other Sony console. But I did play the game. Around that time I also discovered emulation, so I played the crap out of it on PC.

Right now I'm also considering buying Persona 3 Portable and Persona 4. I've played them in the past and I think those are the best JRPGs out there. If only P3P had the expansion that P3FES has that would be THE best version of the game.
