So I was wondering if it was easy to change the color of a spine on a custom vertical n64 cover. The covers on the site have green spines and I have every cover I need saved in my computer so I can improve it if necessary (I haven't printed any out yet). I use paint and GIMP and I am not an expert in either.

Basically, I want to change the color of the custom vertical n64 covers to blue, rather than green. I do not want to change the color of the logo on the spine, just the green portion. Can anyone tell me if this is a possibility, and if so, how to do it using paint or GIMP?

Thanks guys

I'm not sure if it can be done in GIMP, it can in Photoshop, but a gradient map, or change the hue to blue, you will have to cut out the logo, probably easy with a magic wand tool, or whatever is the GIMP equivalent.

Thanks for the advice, I toyed around with the hue after I selected the spine and figured out how to do it using GIMP.

Well, I would love to post the covers, but I'm not really sure how to do that. I have them saved in GIMP and I don't know how to put them into a blog entry here. Sorry, I'm still pretty new to this stuff.

They look great with the blue spines though, I'm very Happy with how they turned out!

Larryinc64: So I ran into a problem with selecting the entire spine then changing the hue. When I go to change the hue I select the color green (the background of the spine) it changes anything within the spine (the selected rectangular area) from green to blue. The issue is when the logo on the spine has a green color in it.

When this issue occurs it changes the logo color which is what I was trying to avoid. Do you know of a way to just select the background of the spine, and not the logo?

If anyone else could give me some advice on how to avoid this problem that would be great.

Here's the look that I am trying to get for all of my N64 covers. I hope you guys like it:

Try making 2 layers, both the same cover. On one layer do the color change, and erase the part of the logo that was green and turned blue. The lover layer should show through, and should still be green.

And can you save the image as a PNG or JPG? I currently do not have GMP installed, and it won't open in Photoshop.
