The purpose of this thread is to bring attention to Kickstarter projects related to old school gaming. There have been a few projects highlighted in other threads, but I wanted a consolidated place to post about new Kickstarters and discuss projects in the works. Please share your opinions of your favorite (or least favorite) gaming related projects.

So yeah, of course there was a specific project that made me start this thread. Case in point: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/darrenwall/sega-mega-drive-genesis-collected-works?ref=home_popular

The SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis: Collected Works. A book dedicated to the glory days of Sega.

I know that we all like Mega Man, but I hate when large established companies make Kickstarter projects.

Or is this just a case of an indy game maker making promises on a property that it doesn't own?

I think they got permission to do a board game because underneath the figures it says "Pending Capcom approval, images not final." It seems very cool but way too expensive, if I'm paying almost $100 for a board game I would never want to play it for fear of destroying it. I'm sure most people that buy it will never open it and just display it anyway.

Earthlock: Festival of Magic

I'm really interested in this game. It's being developed for both PC/Mac as well as consoles. But it looks like a nice throwback to the JRPG's from a couple generations ago.

Pledged $15 on it.

Seems kind far from its goal, but it could defiantly happen.

That's the biggest drawback of Earthlock that I see. They don't have a single physical reward. But I'll pay the $15 for a digital copy and then run a contest to get a cover made for the game if it gets funded.

Edit: They started offering some physical add-ons. $30 for a poster or $40 for a t-shirt.

I do enjoy having the physical copy of a game better then the digital, but recently digital has become more practical at times. for instance, me and my girlfriend both have playstation 3's and I will download a game, and my account is also on her playstation so we can both play the same game, at the same time, even though I paid for it once.

Similar situation with xbox live. I've bought tons of dlc content on xbox live marketplace over the years. The fact that neither Sony or MS brings any of your old content over to the new systems irks me to no end. They'll continue selling a lot of the same old content on the new gen consoles, but you'd be required to repurchase it if you want to play it on the next gen even though you already bought the same thing from the same company on the old platform.

I think that's dumb so I never, ever buy digital content anymore. No matter what!

you can buy crossgen ps3 games on PSN, then pay 10 dollars more to upgrade them and also have the PS4 verision.

I agree in principal - but I do buy stuff when there is no physical form available.

Both flower and flow were free on ps4 as I had previously bought the ps3 versions.
