Well I have gimp and it's admirable to take on that steep learning curve and try to make covers yourself. However, I have no knowledge of how to use this and don't know where to look for tips. Are there any websites or can someone just give me some tips off the top of their heads (or a few steps to follow for altering spines on some covers at least?)

By altering spines I mean, I'd find a cover I liked and would then find a spine I like and alter that spine so it is coordinated with the game and then I guess try to paste that on the cover I like in place of the spine that is by default, there. Hope I didn't confuse anyone I think I got my point across....

Don't know how to use Gimp but you can search on youtube for tutorials, not on how to make covers but how to use the program and maybe that way you can apply it on the covers ;)

That's not quite the best option for me since I actually have a significant hearing loss and can't follow those tutorials. Good suggestion though, thanks.

I've looked into whether there's a guide so I could learn to do it myself but it seems like it'll be too difficult since I don't know anything about photoshop.....

Doesn't it take awhile for people to do covers in my preferred style? I don't know anything about how much work it is but it seems like it would be taxing enough.

Depends on cover.

Doing Shenske Vertical from exsisting pre-cleaned raws takes less than 30minutes (or it would if my computer would work same pace as my hands).

Wiggy covers are even more custom and lacks screenshots and text so with good images should takes less.

My N64 covers use the retail art and info.  It's not too much work (most of the time) to squeeze retail art into my template.  My temp uses almost the exact same dimensions as the preferred vertical cover template on this site, so you can very easily plop the art from those covers right into my template ;)
