Are you playing on Wii or the WiiU. I want to know if it can remote play on the cobtroller.

I downloaded it on my wii, using my Gamecube controller.

I am not sure about the Wii U, but I think maybe you can download it to a sd card or something then transfer it to your

If its on the Wuu, then I'm 100% sure you can play on the game pad itself (if that's what you mean)

Actually you can't.  I am 100% certain.  The 150 coin Link to the Past is for Wii, not Wii U.  Therefore it is played on the Wii emulator built into the Wii U and you need to go to the Wii menu, etc.  When in this mode, the gamepad is useless and you need a wii mote.  In this case, to play LttP on a wii u you need a wii mote with a classic controller plugged in.
Eventually, when they release LttP onto Wii U virtual console, you can pay like $3 and upgrade to the Wii U version, which WILL allow you to play on the game pad.
And no, the Wii U pro won't work either, neither will a gamecube controller.  If you don't have a classic controller or classic pro, don't get this if you only plan to use your Wii U
Megatron:
Nintendo really made things difficult by having two different virtual consoles.  (3 if you count the 3DS one) and none of them interchange with each other.  That means any games downloaded to Wii can only be played on Wii, or the Wii emulator on the Wii U.  On Wii U, you can access a Wii menu, which acts like an emulator, playing all Wii games and downloaded titles.  You can even continue to buy VC games and save them on the Wii U harddrive - the catch is you still need a wii mote and classic controller to play.  No Wii U accessories will not work with Wii games.
That said, any titles you have on Wii VC that you would like to upgrade, you can pay a small fee and redownload to the Wii U home page.  There the game will be able to be played via gamepad, pro u controller, etc.  The downside is there are only about30 or so titles available for the Wii U virtual console.
