I think I am having the same issue as almost everyone else on the site. If I am need of a cover and I can't locate it on the normal cover section i do a forum search. Problem is the forum searches send back so many results its sometimes hard to find something that exists.

I know the cover admins are doing the best job they can putting covers up. And I understand wanting perfect covers.

How about this. Instead of the cover admins having to go through and post/approve the covers. Why not let anyone that is a FULL MEMBER or higher upload the covers to the site and then the cover admins could go through and remove/hide the bad covers. At least they will be easily searchable in the meantime. I find that most covers that are posted in the forums are pretty good. Sometimes they are not great. But they are pretty good.

Another idea, would be for the site to have a dedicated "Upload" section. Kind of like COVER GALAXY. Cover Galaxy appears to not update their normal cover section at all. But their forum is very well organized. And finding covers is a snap.

I am not sure if any of the Cover Admins have permissions to do this. But if someone can make a main heading called UPLOADS, and sub heading with all the platforms. Then i think this would solve the problems. Then instead of posting the finished covers in whatever random forum post is started, the artist can post in the Uploads section and link to that post.

Thoughts?

I also find it tedious to find missing covers. An unapproved *print at your own risk* kind of section for user submissions like you mentioned would be convenient.

I absolutely love this idea. Of course I'd prefer a super high res print but if one isn't available yet I would rather have a lower res print on my shelf then a blank UGC sticking out like a sore thumb.

Never going to happen.  There are specific threads for people to showcase their work with media fire links, etc, and if they feel it's good enough they can submit for approval.  I put the onus back on the cover creators to post them in the correct sections, and to label the Image correctly so it's easier to find in a forum search.

Sorry, but The site couldn't take the bandwidth hit if any old shit was being hosted.

What about a dedicated sticky? At the moment, everyone has their own threads popping up here and there making it a tad difficult to search for.

why not make your own 'placeholder' covers?, if you can use MSpaint you can hack together a half decent 'placeholder' until a site approved one is done

thats how i plan to case japanese games...

also, you could make a request...

With respect, i disagree. The old shit IS being hosted. Its just too difficult to find it. If there were sections of the site created for covers that are not yet published on the site then it would actually de-crease the bandwidth used by people like myself trying to search for items.

Sure Artists have their own section, but there are sometimes hundreds of posts in each section and there isn't a way (at least i can't find one) to simply search just that one Post.

Why would i spend the time making a place holder cover when a perfectly good cover already exists? Makes no sense to me and its double work.

Besides, some of the covers that are not published are actually pretty good. Maybe have little things wrong with them that the vast majority of people A) wouldn't care about and B) wouldn't even notice if it wasn't pointed out to them.

I don't mean to offend anyone but saying "never going to happen" instead of trying to find a solution (if my idea isn't possible) is short sighted.

Just trying to make the site even better then it is.

I think if every system had a thread like this that stayed updated it would be very helpful. http://www.thecoverproject.net/forums/index.php?topic=10382.0 I understand that it takes a lot of work to do this and stuff disappears if the original artist deletes it from there media fire or box but atleast it's better than nothing.

I have that for US Vertical SNES and Blumpkin for Red Vertical N64 (with some PAL ones in it too).

If anyone has time I can help getting such lists started.
We could use one for NES atleast.

This what I meat with above post. ;)
And all the lionks there go to my Mediafire account (some link to the main site, but those get replaced little by little as I (or someone) fix covers) where I re-upload and store all worthy (the ones I notice) downloaded covers.

All covers are also on my computers and/or external HDD (so 1-3 back-ups each)

I like those pages and frequent them. The problem is that only one person can maintain it. There needs to be a way where anyone can update those links, otherwise we have the same problems.

I think the way that covergalaxy has it set up would work best. With a dedicated upload section for each platform that can easily be searched.
