Scan what you can. Labels, Manuals, and Boxes. Every resource is valuable.

OK, I'll scan tomorrow (today later that is actually) what I have.

Man, you're really going gung-ho on the missing KOEI covers aren't you?  I would have thought these would have been impossible to do without good scans but you're doing an excellent job on them!  I can't imagine how long this is taking you, but we definitely appreciate it! :)

Do you want those also on the site or are they just for the masses? ;)

All the covers are perfect on the backs (except Blue Marlin) and spine but the front art is a bit problematic. Could this be a scan issue?

L'Empereur was nice even though the front art had lost some details in the small soldiers.

Bandit Kings has some pixelation and unsharpness on the front art.
On Sqoon the sub and fish are unsharp and look kinda low res.
On Blue Marlin the fish looks really nice but the sea behind it looks pixelated and on the back the ship looks low res.

That is always the problem with covers for rare games that are done without proper scans.
The effort is really good and I appreciate it but low quality art is hard to improve as much as our quality standards require.

Still very good work segamer.

Well on Blue Marlin I know the reason: It was done from my cart label scanned at 2400DPI.

Same deal with Bandit Kings at least, like he said he used my manual scan (which is usually the same size as a cart label) so he had to upscale it to make it fit a cover and in doing so there's bound to be some pixellation or blurring.  The covers are, at worst, an excellent placeholder and in the event that we ever do get good 600DPI scans of the front art it would probably be easy to have them resized and dropped into his existing covers and eliminate any issues the front art may have had.  Personally, I'd take one of these covers over no cover at all any day of the week (and twice on Sundays).  Given what he's had to work with, I'd say his work is above excellent, I only regret that I only have manual scans for him to work with. :(

I knew those reasons. Nontheless that doesn't change our quality requirements.

I won't argue that those are very nice placeholders indeed.

L'Empereur if also coming from a cart label scan was a miraculous effort though. Looks almost as from an actual box scan. It is already on the site as well.

  • I'm known over the internet as Mario.
I know Arseen has uploaded a raw scan of Nobunaga's Ambition, though I'm wondering if anyone has any links to any that would be completed? Thanks in advance.
