Come to think I think I've never seen good non-blurred moire-free scan from even our pro Photoshop users.

The thing is, I don't descreen when scanning. I clean up the file after the scan. The crummy preview doesn't give you a very good idea of what you're gonna get as a result and all the tools needed to descreen are available withing the basic photoshop filters.

I haven't upped tons of scans, but there are a few here somewhere. I know at least Biometal is up. Lemme find a link...

yeah, probably overkill but although i have descreening options up to 600dpi i mostly just scan at 1200 and filter it down from there manually. did some comparisons with the built-in scanner options and the downsized photoshopped results are always a bit sharper. at 1200dpi you have a lot of leeway since you're outputting at 25% resolution.
