Kijiji / Classified rage. Help? Buying certain NES/SNES/N64 titles.

I'm extremely new to video game collecting as some of you may know already. I had a few consoles and games laying around so that made it a tad easier but I really got the urge to find every game I ever had, bought or played with friends as a child.

I've had a kijiji ad for a while now and I frequently check the website to hopefully snag a good deal some day. I finally found a good deal today. Guess what, I should of known though; someone else offered higher AFTER the seller had confirmed it was sold to me for X price for X items. Now, I have to wait and see if he'll reply to tell me how much "this other guy" offered and see if I can outbid him ... even though it was considered "sold" UGH. I should of known.

If anyone is selling their game collection or have doubles ... let me know, it's hugely appreciated because here in Ottawa, ON Canada ... it's super dry for flea markets and people selling stuff. I find better deals on Ebay than here and that's just down right fustrating.

Kijiji is like classifieds equivalent. Aaand, my add for my "wanted list":

I'm also in the Ottawa area.

Kijiji is now just a bunch of resellers with want ads asking for games.

I have also made deals with people and then been told someone else has offered more.

Theres one guy from gatineau that will buy up any decent retro item within 5 minutes of it being posted.  I know because I sell stuff on there and I get an email from the dude within 5-10 minutes because he's looking to flip what I'm selling.

I sell quite a few games on there but I do not post reseller want ads.  I think it's lazy.

Since your add seems like an actual legit "looking for" list I'd suggest putting prices you would be willing to pay.

I've got a few of the games you are looking for such as Mario All stars, Mario 3, and Zelda 2. etc.

Is it that new shop in Gatineau? I checked it out last night just to see his prices and they're pretty steep ... I saw things like gaia for 40$ - made me cringe but maybe my list will make his drop his prices.

Yeah.. I thought about putting prices. Just wish I could buy in quantity for a cheaper price than just hustle each game for a cheaper cost. PS: the games you mentioned I have, it's on the list under the wanted manual section :P

Sorry to hear you got "back doored" (that's the term people commonly use for this time of scenario).  Sadly, this seems to be common place with classifieds, whether that be local or even on eBay.  Usually it comes down to how honest the seller is.  Meaning, IMO, an honest seller would have told the other person that the items have already been sold.  Unfortunately, like a lot of things in life, money talks.  :(

I'm in agreement with Mojoe, and that having prices or "bounties" listed in your want ad can improve your chances of people replying to it.  I'm also in agreement that Kijiji is now filled with re-sellers and over-saturated with "want ads".  It used to be a good resource for finding older games, even a year ago, but seemingly this hobby has exploded in the past year or two, and prices are now reflecting that.  It's rare I even bother looking too closely at classifieds anymore, which is a change from last year where I'd browse almost daily.  Plus, in this day and age, with all the people with smart phones, people set it up so that they're instantly notified if ads are posted, so that too makes things even more difficult!

The only way you're going to get a deal these days is being in the right place at the right time, or simply get lucky.  I'd recommend some of the message boards online too.  NintendoAge is a good site to check out.  Lots of good people on there, and many are selling stuff at fair prices.  If you don't mind paying for shipping (which has gone up in the past year as well in Canada), then it can be a good resource for games.

Good luck.

I haven't been to the Gatineau shop but I assume it's probably very pricey.

You may want to try carp flea market .. there's a guy there every Sunday ... he's got pretty much everything but he does charge market prices.

That said, depending on his mood that day, he will negotiate down, especially if you buy lots of items at once.  He will also give decent trade on some things .. again depending oh his mood.
