No prob bud, always nice to try out new ideas and compare contrast what works. Now i think i want to use real logos for NES games on the spines (like the SNES ones I did).

Good idea. The problem with alot of classic NES spines is theyre very generic looking. They got it right with snes logos. The logo for a link to the past might actually work for the first zelda. Same for metroid. Just throwin ideas out to see what sticks

^^^ This.

Good design will often require many revisions. Sorting through what works and what doesn't is just part of the process :)

As far as lazy and shit...idk about that, to each their own, but it's definitely not my preference.

I didn't mean your covers are lazy or shit, but using the front image like that as back image would be. ;D

I would really like to see a spine design that would be standard across NES, SNES and N64. Maybe different theme colors based on main character for background or keep it simple with black or white, publisher logo at top and system logo on bottom and retail title logo. A sprite or actual art pic would be nice too. I wish i could mock one up to better explain what i mean

yeah i know, no harm no foul.  i wasn't putting the cover out there as a representation of what I actually liked; just using it as evidence to justifying my choice not to do it.

Here's a "corrected" FF2 for SNES.  I changed the back art, spine sprite, and Square logo on the front.  I also found a better looking FF2 logo that i chipped away at using photoshop.  It's kind of annoying trying to find decent art/sprites that are large enough, especially when a thorough search has to include FF2, FF4, FFII and FFIV.  Stupid square!

lol.  oops.  my original FF2 spine logo had a little trademark on it.  when i put it together I wasn't keen to the whole magic eraser/erase pixel by pixel method so i created an extra "black box" to cover the TM symbol.  when i deleted the old logo and put on my newly created logo (pixel by pixel deletion - what a bitch!), i must've forgot to delete the black box!  i'll fix that when i'm back from class.  Egg on my face.  yeah i love that back art, finding good art is an "art" in itself.

That's a really low res logo :(  Something like this would be a LOT cleaner.

hmmm...i thought that was the same pic i used.  did i just blow it up too much?  when i tried to save it, it said i already saved the exact pic (unless it was just named the same exact thing).  Is there a better way to enlarge pics?  Maybe i'm missing something.

I named it something different than your file, so that shouldn't be an issue ???

The logo is all that I changed (on the front and spine).  Click the image in my post and download the file from my box.com acct. open them each side-by-side and you'll see what I mean.

i meant that when i tried to save the pic of the FFII box, it said i already had it.  as in, i found that exact box art pic and I swear that was the one i cropped.  guess not tho (judging by the final product).  but you're right - the new logo is a lot better than the one I put on.
