forget paying $100 for a tv adapter, but then it turned out this is a stationary console version of the psvita. probably conceived along with the controller touchpad sometime last year in the wake of the ouya kickstarter success, this is totes a day one purchase for me. unless i'm travelling i really only play portable games on the couch anyway.

kotaku because they have pics - http://kotaku.com/introducing-ps-vita-tv-1276599936

guess it won't have touchpad support and such but i already own the beautiful OLED portable vita. also, they need something drastic to save the platform and the installed userbase is way too small to consider.

Yeah i'm stoked for this. I think this all around GREAT news for gamers. I've always wanted to play my portable games on the TV. Especially if you are playing your portable game on the go and when you get home you still have to use the little screen. I'm VERY VERY intrigued by the prospect of it still incorporation remote play of the PS4 through the device. Meaning i can have my PS4 hooked up in one room and use the PS-Vita-TV to stream my PS4 games into the other.

Quick Positive Notes
+ PSVita games on the TV (physical or downloaded)
+ PSP games on the TV (download only .. better than nothing)
+ Uses same memory card as Vita (not a new format)
+ Video Streaming (netflix, hulu, etc)
  + Compatible w/ both Dualshock 3
+ Stream PS4 on another TV via remote play
  + Its sleek and small
+ ITS ONLY $100!!!  ;D  (Well, probably. No official price stateside)

I hope this things sells through the roof. This device will help build a much larger install base for the Vita.
Larger install base = more games sold. More games sold = developers making more games. Developers making more games = more consoles sold. Its the cycle that the vita has not been able to get kickstarted yet and they desperately need to do so.  Overall, I'm really excited about the prospect of more games for the powerful little system.  ;D

Day one purchase for me. Will preorder the day we are able to

I'm quite happy about this, and it playing PC engine games??? WOW! I'm stoked and will buy day 1 when it gets to North America!

But one thing though...how can this help sell more PSvita at 250$ (? the price now)...people will just buy this at 100$ and play the vita games on their tv.
Unless they wanna pay 250$ only to be able to play the games that use touchscreen? I think most people will just buy the TV version and not the Vita itself...

At least it's gonna be producing more money than the vita alone, so more money means more developer interested which means more games!!! So yeah, can't wait!!!

Think of this as Sony's take on the 2DS.

Can you use this Vita TV alone? to be clear, you don't need a portable vita to use this console-like thing?

Correct! It can be used alone. It kinda sounds like they are trying to compete with the Apple TV with streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu but they are throwing in Vita game support to sweeten the deal.

also this (vita TV) can be used to stream PS4 games, and apparently there will be an update to allow you to use dualshock 4 controllers with this, so in theory  touch controls on the vita TV could be done via DS4, I really hope  they do that!
(also, motion controls?)

As long as it gets sent state side and stays around $100, I'll be getting one...probably even before a PS4 or XBOne
