If you still have a PS2 plus all of your old PS1 and PS2 memory cards, then go for the Slim. My launch (Phat) PS3 60 gig eventually did take a shit on me after about 5 years of solid and fruitful gaming, and from what I've gleaned it's an issue that will eventually claim the lives of all the launch models (provided you actually play games on it regularly, as my friend's launch model that he barely ever uses is still going strong). It worked flawlessly up until the point where it stopped booting up, and it wasn't due to negligence on my part. It was a huge bummer. But my Slim has been a champ, and I haven't felt the need to replace the 160gb hard drive on it yet (despite my robust collection of Rock Band DLC). Literally the only things I miss from the Phat are the 4 USB slots in the front (which can easily be made up for with a multi-tap), and the backwards compatibility (which isn't as big of a deal if you've still got a working PS2, which I do).
Can't speak one way or the other for the Super-Slim. No one I know has one.
