IMO Street Fighter Alpha 2 & 3 and X-Men Vs. Street Fighter on the Sega Saturn. Hell even Puzzle fighters too if you wanna count that.

Street fighter 2 and street fighter 2 turbo on the snes both hold a special place in my heart.    Sure there are better versions (ps2 for example) but the nostalgia wins out on these.

My favorite version of Street Fighter is Super Street Fighter II Turbo. Not the HD remix, but the original version of the game. That game has been my favorite for many years and someday I wish to own the arcade version of the game, or at least the arcade game board. Problem with owning that board is that it comes with a high price tag. Maybe some day.

My favorite as well probably the only one i play the most to this date. First version was the dreamcast and me and my friends play it for many years. Now we are playing on the ps3 .

MVSC2 uses gimped SFA fighters. While it is the most popular, because of its easy play ablity, it is not the most loved by the street fighter fan base (at least the ones I know). Most preffer Street Fighter 3: Third Strike and now SF4. Not my fave but if hes asking for the best its worth a try for those.

surely SFIV, ... given the support and maintenance that Capcom has renewed all these years (since 2008) in the title, no doubt it became one of the most technical, deep and balanced game in the entire series (and perhaps between all the current fighting games general) .. at every big event brings pleasant surprises, and it is still able to surprise with the arrival of Ultra-SFIV ... there is a good amount of characters with great variety, is very well polished visually, fantastic soundtrack, all according to be the best game of the decade.

but in my personal rank (still keeping SFIV in the top), not counting the "Vs. Series", there we are:
Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition (currently) > Street Fighter III Third Strike > Street Fighter Alpha 2 > Hyper Street Fighter II > the rest of franchise.
Something, something about future;

I agree with this statement.  Street Fighter II was the second (after Zelda) game I got for the SNES.  Played the crap out of it.  Guile FTW!
