Honestly, I don't think it was even because of the fans that Nintendo decided to release the game.  I think that gamestop saw that there was some demand for the game so they themselves convinced Nintendo to release the game. Kinda like how Xseed decided to do Last Story and Pandora's tower.  Xseed wanted to please the fans while Nintendo didn't really care...as long as someone else footed the bill they were fine.

All Nintendo was doing was playing it safe.  If the game didn't sell...then there weren't many copies out there to worry much about...but if the game does sell...the print run was small enough that they'd sell all copies and get their money back.

Yeah, I understand Nintendo didn't want another Dragon Warrior on their hands, but whether it was Operation Rainfall convincing Nintendo themselves or Gamestop convincing Nintendo because of Operation Rainfall... the point still stands that Nintendo of America's out of touch.
Goodfella:
Gamestop has $15 off of a games or accessories purchase of $59.99 or more online. offer expires on 9/3. Hopefully this helps whoever is looking to buy this game or others. I know some may also be looking to pick up pikman 3 or MPT. This can be used for multiple items adding up to $59.99 or more as well.
